Human Capacity Building And Desperate Acquisition Of Power: The Wayforward In Oyo State !! By Alabi Tunji Michael.

“Among the many avoidable challenges bedeviling our society is as a result of having over ambitious desperadoes at the helms of affairs without clearly defined vision on how to lead the people they “forcefully” represent.

These desperate political power mongers and accidental public servants go to whatever extent to actualise their selfish and evil dreams, not minding whose ox is gored.

They resolve to unleashing thugs to burn houses, destroy properties, kidnap some family members of the opposition and cause social unrest in the society, caring less of the aftermath of their devilish acts on their personalities and families, even after they might have left office.

And very sadly, when all the aforementioned tactics fail, their last hope becomes the court, which ought to be their first hope. There, they spend millions of naira trying to “buy” court cases.

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” Proverbs 29:22.

It is not accidental that the good people of Oyo North Senatorial District are enjoying the unprecedented representing of the lawmaker. This is simply because he is being divinely chosen for them, reasons for the Midas touches across the thirteen (13) local government areas of the district.

An X-ray into the political journey of the Most Distinguished Senator, Dr (Prince) AbdulFatai Omotayo Buhari, not alone attests that only God gives power but also reaffirms that the lawmaker is God’s Chosen who also puts God first in all his endeavours.

This is divined guidance at work.

Going down the memory lane, the results of the election he won convincingly in 2007 was withheld for almost three (3) days before it was announced. He was later rigged out and he took it as the way God wanted it.

Similarly, in 2011, Professor Attairu Jega, the then Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), based on logistics problems, according to him, called for the cancellation of the elections around 2 O’clock, when the elections was almost through.

This situation was challenged by political analysts around the globe as a deliberate plan to hold on to power, having noticed that the then ruling party was on the verge of losing.

All political gladiators can testify that he was leading with an embarrassing margin before the cancellation. But as fate will have it, he was rigged out in the rescheduled election.

I remember how he walked in joyously and laid on the couch, unperturbed, about the outcome of the election.

And when he woke up after a slight but sound sleep, he was the one begging those who were crying about the outcome of the election to stop. And all he had to say was, “God’s time is the best and at the appointed time, He will make us astonishingly unstoppable”.

Senator AbdulFatai Omotayo Buhari has never been desperate for anything in life. This makes him simply exceptionally and equally justified his “Omoluabi” cognomen.

The Distinguished Senator Dr (Prince) AbdulFatai Omotayo Buhari, does not just on many occasions say it, but he has been able to prove on countless times that his main aim of delving into politics is to expand his horizon in terms of human capacity development and provide a sane platform for meaningful growth for the betterment of the larger society.

To him, a developed mind is not expected to engage in any activity that will set the people and the society backwards.

This, the lawmaker has consistently and assiduously proven it in his life lifting and human friendly programme of activities both on and off the floor of the Hallowed Chamber.

As a legislator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, he has nineteen (19) bills and fourteen (14) motions to his credit ; his primary responsibility as a lawmaker. This is Unprecedented !!!

As a human capacity builder, he has trained over five thousand (5000) constituents, selected across the Oyo North senatorial district in various fields among which are; disinfectant and soap making, tiling, tie and dye, cake making, hairdressing, barbering, computer literacy, agriculture mechanisation, small scale farming, aquaculture production and post harvest technology, cusmotology,
to mention but a few.

To ensure self sufficiency and total reduction of dependence rate, all the over five thousand (5000) trained participants, apart from receiving feeding and transport allowances during these trainings, are equally being given Starter Packs and Start up capital at the end of the events, to begin their journey to greatness.

These various human capacity drives by the referenced lawmaker has aside improving the standard of living of these people, have as well reduced the crime rates in the zone.

Senator Buhari has succeeded in giving jobs to over a hundred people of his constituents since his emergence as the Senator to represent Oyo North Senatorial District while many are still on the waiting list to be gainfully employed.

Assigning such God fearing, visionary, proactive and outstanding lawmaker who has set a new pace of representation, worthy of emulation, with higher responsibility by giving him the needed support to be the Flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 Oyo State Gubernatorial Elections, is the best thing that would ever happen to the progressive fold.
