Hunger And Procrastination: Southwest on The Losing Path !! By De Gold.

A Yoruba adage says , ‘Tebi bati kuro ninu ishe, ishe buse‘ but reverse is the case for the South western part of Nigeria.

Southwestern region is blessed with vast land for agricultural purposes. From Oyo to Ogun, Osun to Ondo, Ekiti to Edo.

This can’t be compared to any other zones in the country neither some Africa nations.

In the 60s and early centuries, apart from wars, our forefathers were known to be successful farmers , many of those that fought for the independent of this nation were educated and they got it from ‘OWO KOKO, OWO EPO PUPA ATI RUBBER’ and so on.

South West was the pride of the nation after independence, the emergence of ‘OODUA GROUPS‘. It birthed the
Cocoa house, Wemabod estate, Epe plywood and many farm settlements to mention but few.

What has happened to the legacies left behind by these people. They bequeathed to us a good foundation to build on, our ‘PROCASTINATON’ make it impossible for us.

Many of these were either sold, stolen or abandoned. We now depend on those who then depended on groundnuts, they are now threatening us with strikes. We are now at the mercy of ‘Omo ALAWUSA’.

All lands both government reserves have been turned into housing estates. Every successful government wants to beat the previous only on infrastructural projects. The masses are lazy but make noises of hunger.

Nobody is ready to go back to the farm, even, to do as little as what will sustain a family of 4. We are all waiting on government that will not come.

OFN, Operation Feed the Nation is now a mirage. The northerners are not hungry as we are because they have more than what to eat hence they have the strength to look for power.
