IBADAN: CCII Honours ‘Bimbo Adekanmbi.

Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes(CCII) has honoured a front line Oyo South Senatorial Hopeful, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC), come 2023, Honourable Abimbola Adekanmbi, during her “2022 Ibadan Cultural Festival and Award Ceremony” which took place on March 17, at Banquet Hall, Premier Hotel, Ibadan, the Capital of Oyo-State.

While giving his acceptance speech and addressing press, former Finance Commissioner in the state,Hon. Adekanmbi stated that,”This award is coming at a good time because we have new Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun on the throne. With Baba there now, we expect that everybody should come on board, to do more. We’re soldiers and children of Ibadanland. We’re proud descendants of Ibadan and we’ll always support our great city of warriors- Ibadanland.

“We thank the leadership of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes(CCII) for counting us worthy of this honorary award. The letter sent to me stated that the honour is to appreciate my contributions to the progress of Ibadanland and I count this as a privilege. I thank Ibadan youth, as well, for their immense supports and I count this award as a challenge to do more.

“My homage goes to His Majesty, Oba Lekan Balogun. We’re on ground to continue advancing the greatness and progress of Ibadanland, as laid down by our forebear – the Legendary Lagelu

“As I said earlier, this award is a big challenge for all of us who are descendants and lovers of Ibadanland, to keep on advancing progress of our beloved city.

Hon. Adekanmbi appreciated friends, family and fans that came to celebrate with him, on the bestowal of the Distinguished Fellowship Award(DFA), on him by CCII, on behalf of the Olubadan of Ibadan Land, His Majesty, Oba Mohood Ishola Balogun (Alli Okumade II), the President General, Prince Oluyemisi Adetayo Adeaga and other members of the executive council of the Central council of Ibadan Indigenes(CCII), in appreciation of his several contributions to the progress of CCII and Ibadan land, in general.

The award ceremony which was tagged Business Luncheon 2022 was held on Thursday, 17th of March, 2022, at premier hotel Ibadan, and it was part of the lined up activities for the Ibadan cultural festival week which kicked off on Sunday,13th of March, 2022.

Adekanmbi has, for the past three years, been offering over 300 free UTME forms for the youth and scholarship awards to any Federal University of choice, for the best students among those that participated in the said UTME examination, in all the nine Local governments in Ibadan and Ibarapa zones of the State.

Recently, he gave bursary awards of five Million Naira to 120 students who are indigenes of Oyo State in all the tertiary institutions, in Nigeria.

All Adekanmbi’s youth empowerment programmes are targeted at brilliant, but financially handicapped students, with the sole objective of building virile and productive youth that will contribute positively, to their immediate communities and society, as a whole.

  • •Distribution of palliatives
  • •Distribution of hand sanitizers in major markets of Oyo state
  • •5m Naira Bursary for students
  • •Sponsorship of 100 Beneficiaries in 2019 to the Technical University (TechU) Ibadan, in a first ever collaboration for Special Empowerment and Training under the Youth Empowerment and Special Recruitment Programme
  • •Distribution of Jamb forms for students and several others.
