IBADAN NORTH: Akinremi Legacy Forum Commissions, Hands Over Cassava Processing Plant Facilitated by Late Hon Olaide Akinremi

Continuing on the path of ensuring all uncompleted projects facilitated by the late former Ibadan North Federal Representative, Hon. (Prince) Musiliu Olaide Akinremi (Jagaban), do not become moribund, the Akinremi Family Head, Chief Abiodun Akinremi, alongside members of the late Hon. Olaide Akinremi’s Think Tank, collaborated with relevant stakeholders to ensure the completion and handing over of the Cassava Processing Plant facilitated by the late Hon. Akinremi Jagaban for the benefit of its host community, Barika, and the entirety of Ibadan North Local Government.

This commissioning and handing over event, which took place yesterday, 17th October 2025, at the project site within the Barika community in the Ward 12 area of Ibadan North Local Government, had in attendance the representatives of the coordinating agency, Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi (FIIRO), Barr Ebun Alawode and Engr Wuraola.

Also present were representatives from Ibadan North Local Government, which included Mrs Adeola Akanni, who is the Director of Agriculture and Food Security, alongside her deputy, Mr Adeleke S. Adebayo. Accompanying them were Hon. Bala Muhammed, the Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture, and Hon. Emmanuel Oluwaseun, who is the Supervisory Councillor for Security.

The Babaloja of Bodija Market, who is also the President of the Oyo State Market Men and Women Association, Alhaji Chief S.A. Jimoh, alongside his P.R.O., Alhaji Sulaimon Ileomo, attended the event with a number of market men and women who are into the garri and elubo business to encourage immediate patronage of the cassava processing plant.

This cassava processing plant is an initiative of the late Hon. Olaide Akinremi with the agenda to advance the economic prosperity of the people of Ibadan North Local Government through the agriculture value chain, and its optimum functioning will be of immense benefit to the generality of interested individuals and groups in that line of business.

The plant will be managed and supervised by an already set-up steering committee comprising members from relevant stakeholders and chaired by Prof. Adewunmi Taiwo, a seasoned veteran in the agriculture, farm power and machinery field, who also is a resident in the Barika Community.
