Ibadan North By-election: Senator Alli Leads APC Campaign As Murphy’s Acceptance Gains Momentum

Afeez Bello,
Ibadan, Oyo State
Oyo South Senator, Oloye Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, among other party leaders, led the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for the upcoming August 16 Ibadan North bye-election in Wards 3 and 4 of the federal constituency on Thursday, August 7, at Yemetu Ibadan.
Addressing the crowd, Alli noted that he was on the campaign ground to present and canvass for the candidate of the APC, Hon. Wale Olatunji Murphy.

“APC is a pro-people party which loves the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Oyo South, Oyo State and Nigeria. The party has been rolling out some policies to help Nigerians, such as the student loan “NELFUND” to help parents who cannot afford to pay school fees. They are now paying without any stress. Since the federal government removed the subsidy, state allocation has been tripled. Let us ask the state government what it is doing with the huge allocation,” Alli fumed.

“How can we interpret someone that has been a House speaker for 8 years and a governor and minister for the same years, respectively, and he’s complaining that he’s hungry?” Alli knocked the opposition leader.
The High Chief, Alli, continued, “Let’s troop out en masse and vote for APC. If an opposition party gives you money, collect it and vote for our great party. Everyone knows the good performance of my late brother, Hon. Olaide Akinremi Jagaban and also, I’m performing excellently in order to consolidate each other’s efforts. Vote for APC! Vote for Murphy!”, he canvassed.
“Pls don’t let us relent; we should work very hard for the party’s success in the election. On the day of the election, let’s vote for the party with the broom logo, and our candidate is Murphy”, Alli addressed electorate.
In his remarks, Deputy Director General of the byelection campaign council, Oloye Gafar Ojetola, commended the leaders and members of the party.
Ojetola urged unity of purpose among party members and chieftains. He noted that Akinremi lit up the Adeoyo area and its environs with solar lights and electric transformers, and did many other good things. “Murphy will continue from where Akinremi stopped and consolidate on Alli’s pro-people representation. “Let’s cooperate and vote for Murphy,” he stated.
The pioneer Vice Chairman of the Aare Latoosa Local Council, and one of the House of Representatives aspirants who have joined forces with Murphy, Hon. Monsuru Akintunde Adeyemo (Socrates), maintained that Hon. Murphy is a well-known, experienced and compassionate politician.
“Hon. Murphy is tested and trusted, and he will perform excellently. I passionately call for unity of purpose among our members and chieftains,” said Socrates while chanting an ideological song, “The people united can never be defeated (3 times).”
Hon. Socrates continued, “As we all know, there is politics, and there is political activism. Meanwhile, a human being is not a creature of logic, but he is a creature of emotion. So, please don’t let us see our aggrieved people as bad people. They need our empathy and understanding; let’s embrace them and work together as a united front to retain the Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat and reclaim Oyo for progressive governance come 2027.
“Let’s support our leader and one of us, who has emerged as the candidate of our great party, Hon. Murphy, wholeheartedly. This is his time – Murphy O’Clock; you know now, and by His Grace, our time will also come, and we shall not labour in vain.
“All political indicators show that the only strength Seyi Makinde and PDP have in Oyo State is the disunity of Oyo APC. That’s why our leaders, candidates, and members need to live above emotion, ego, and feelings. Let’s prioritise our collective interests and make them mutually consistent, according to John Nash – an ingenious scholar. Let’s use our united energy to fight opposition, not any one of us. After our victory, let’s trust God; he knows how to reward people,” he urged.
A former secretary of PDP, Ariwoola Babawale, who recently decamped to APC, noted that he has been in PDP since 2005, but the party is known for using its members as slaves. “We did not benefit anything from PDP, not until we joined APC, and our standard of living has improved.
The defectors revealed that Murphy has been so good to them by facilitating 15 solar street lights, which the leaders of the community have installed across the areas and delivered other dividends of democracy. “We are going to work for APC and Murphy’s victory on the day of the election. Let’s turn ourselves into information officers of our great party to intensify Hon. Murphy’s campaign, and by His Grace, victory is ours,” he submitted.
Also in attendance were Alhaji Bello Oladeji BAO, Alhaji Taofeek Olayiwola, Elder JP Oladokun, Alhaja Tinuade Adigun, Hon. Shina Alabi, Alhaji Wale Sanusi, Hon. Taofeek Aderogba, Hon. Dayo Adeniyi, Mrs Laitan Victor, Mr Turaya, Hon. Adebayo Adams, and 2024 APC Councillorship Candidates, among several others.
