The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming August 16 bye-election, Hon. ‘Wale Olatunji Murphy, has today met with the party stakeholders in a strategic meeting held at Alis Hall, Adjacent UCH, Ibadan.

Murphy saluted his co-aspirants for their fighting spirit, especially while jostling for the House of Representatives ticket. He noted that they’re all qualified for the position, but the fact remains that only one candidate will emerge.

“The party owns me, not individuals. This cause is a collective responsibility of all party stakeholders irrespective of their local governments and federal constituencies. We all own the victory, and everyone will be carried along. I have utmost respect for the apex leaders and the local government working committee of the party, including all party members.

“The leadership of the party are working in earnest to bring everyone together so that we will go to the polls with a united house. Let’s forget the past and pay rapt attention to the task before us,” Olatunji warned.

Murphy appreciated the apex leaders and the state working committee of the party for their immense contribution to the campaign.

The chairman of the party, Alhaji Taofeek Olayiwola, hinted that Senator Sharafadeen Alli will also consolidate efforts on a reconciliation meeting with the party stalwarts tomorrow, Monday. He encouraged party members to support the cause wholeheartedly since success to one is success to all.

“The campaign will kick off by 2pm at Labiran junction, Ward 1, tomorrow,” Olayiwola revealed. “The campaign will continue at Odo-Oolo market in Ward 2. The party members should mobilise en masse.

Olayiwola continued,”By Tuesday, the campaign will continue in Ward 7 at Ojunrin in Oke-tunu by 2pm, followed by the Shobande Oremeji Area in the same ward.

By Wednesday, it is likely that the party stalwarts across the country will join Ibadan North APC and shake the city of Ibadan with continuity of quality representation and enthronement of Murphy’s Inclusive Leadership.

“The party will notify the stakeholders whether this mighty rally will come up on the said day or not,” he stated.

Recalling political shenanigans called the local council election by the Oyo State government, Olayiwola assured party members and constituents of a free, fair, and credible election from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). “This election will be conducted by INEC. Therefore, the party members and entire constituents should rest assured that it should be free, fair, and credible. This election is not a ‘kangaroo’ election like the one held during the 2024 Local Government poll in the state.

In his remarks, Alhaji Wale Sanusi lamented the loss of Prince Musiliu Olaide Akinremi “Jagaban” and offered prayerful tribute to the late federal lawmaker.

The party chieftain, Sanusi, noted that the party should work in unison ahead of the bye-election. He encouraged all attendees to remain committed to the party and appealed to the aggrieved to sheath their swords.

Sanusi continued,”A consistent politician is not a loser. Murphy has been in the race since 2003. All the aspirants performed excellently well, and the leadership of the party has been appealing to them, and other party stakeholders should follow suit.

“This crowd shows that 90 percent of the party members are in support of this cause. Nobody should be scared. We have the backing of the party leaders and faithful across the federal constituency, Oyo State, and Nigeria. Let’s mobilise and come out en masse to vote for Murphy and our great party, APC.

In attendance were Alhaji Bello Oladeji BAO, Elder JP Oladokun, Hon. Peju Esan, Leader Akerele, Alhaji Abubakar Marafa, Barr. Kola Majaro (APC Zonal Legal Adviser), Alhaja Tinu Ade Adigun (APC State Women Leader), Leader Fashad, Alhaji Gafar Ojetola, Alhaji Shina Alabi, Hon. ‘Dayo Adeniyi, Hon. Yinka Akinbode, Hon.
