‘Ibadan North East: Home of Political Giants, Hub of Hard Boys”- Afuye Says
Hon. Lekan Afuye, The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North East Local Government and overall Chairman of Ibadan Municipal Local Councils (Atile Atoko) has described his aboriginal local government, Ibadan North East as a peculiar local government in Oyo State where past and present Oyo State political gladiators are from or choose as their stronghold, he says this in a press statement issued in Ibadan on early hour of Thursday, 30th January, 2020 and made available to newsmen.
Afuye reiterates it that, “Ibadan North East is a focal point, a state on its own, the politico-wisdom base (amu oselu) of Oyo State- the home of legends and stalwarts such as Akinloye, Akinjide, Adelakun, Seyi Makinde, , Lekan Balogun, Kola Balogun, Lekan Afuye, Gbade Lana, Gbenga Adewusi Arole, Baba Ladoja, Bayo Lawal among several others’,
He further asserts it that “some garrison commanders have also choosed the local government as their base, strides which is turning the LG to notorious neighborhood and a hub of political thuggery of Oyo State- the people like Adebisi Olopoeyan, Mukaila Auxillary, Iwo Road boys , Bus stop, Gate, Oje boys among others… The council’s special peculiarity among the 33 Local Governments and 35 LCDA’s should be recognised and noted for the needed security intervention .
Even if we have lawfully possessed the remaining 32 LG’s and 35 LCDA’s and it remains Ibadan North East we have not possessed our rightful mandates as central heart of Ibadan politics and invariably that of Yoruba land as Ibadan is the political capital of Southwestern Nigeria.
Afuye calls for robust security coverage in Ibadan North East, he commends the efforts of IGP and Oyo CP so far so good but it is not over until it is over.
Lekan Afuye uses the avenue to thank good and peace-loving people of Oyo-State and Ibadan North east local government in particular, he appreciates their courage and supports to strengthen constitutional democracy at grass root levels.
