Ibadan Northeast-II: Youth Group Fumes over Crisis Rocking “APC State Assembly’s Flagbearership“, Tasks Party on “No Victor, No Vanquished” Resolution.
A popular Youth Group within the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State – The Mandate Team, has condemned the current political crisis rocking the Constituency-II of Ibadan Northeast Local Government Area on the right and valid nomination of its state assembly’s flagbearership,(membership ticket). The group attributed the crisis to poor and faulty selection process, primary, conducted by the body it described as “a clearly compromised umpire from the state”.
In a statement personally signed by group’s spokesperson, Comrade Akinniyi Adejare, the group noted that,”Unless the crisis is properly and decisively managed in a ‘no victor, no vanquish manner’, it may completely erode the already trimmed chances of the APC in the entire local government.
The group described as condemnable and vicious, the decision of just one aspirant in connivance with some Local Government party executives to colonise the primary election’s venue with street urchins and paid agents of the underworld and consequently depriving other aspirants, who are validly screened and cleared by the party from accessing the election venue on the said date.
While lamenting, the group noted that it was the sole reason why a parallel election was held and a popular candidate emerged.
The group charged the party to investigate both claims and come up with a more tenable position and candidate in the general interest of the party.”It is shameful that a certain aspirant with questionable docket would resort to blackmail and aggression in an attempt to coerce the party to endorse his fraud and boondoggle.
In its position, the group opined that both Kazeem Lawal and Adekunle Adeyemi (Facebook) laying claim to the party ticket in the Constituency are rarely known nor accepted by the mass of party members in the local government.
While describing the nomination of both Kunle Adeyemi and Kazeem Lawal as unacceptable and unpopular, the group opined that,”Both personalities have only just criminally taken advantage of the well documented division within the party to push through their coup against the overwhelming desire of party faithful in the council area, unfortunately, at the damage of the founding goals of the party and expectation of its members.
Adejare advised the state leadership of APC “to consult widely among the leaders of the party in the local government and hurriedly review the process, and nominate an acceptable candidate for the party in the district who enjoys the overwhelming support of party members and adherents. It is insisted that the party must avoid playing cheaply into the hands of their opponents as neither Adekunle Adeyemi nor Kazeem lawal enjoys this advantage or could lead the party to victory at the fast approaching 2023 general elections. Politics is a game of numbers. Nobody can win all the people all the time”. The statement concluded.
