Igangan: We Need Joint Efforts – Prince Akinremi Jagaban Says.

Member, House of Representatives(MHR), from Ibadan North Federal Constituency has maintained that joined efforts are need to Nin in bud the rising waves of insecurity in Igangan and Ibarapa Land at large.

“On Sunday 6th June 2021, the good people of Ọ̀yọ́ state and other Nigerians woke up to very disturbing pictures and video clips of dead bodies and other destroyed properties, among which is the palace of the Asigangan of Igangan in Ibarapaland”, he lamented.

“While some report claims this incident to be a reprisal attack from the evacuated Fulanis, some claim it to have been perpetrated by bandits. Whichever it may be, it is important that justice is served and that it is done fast.

“At this point, it is vital that the Ọ̀yọ́ state government conducts a thorough investigation in quick time to ascertain the facts, and also as a matter of urgency pursue, arrest and prosecute these vile offenders.

“More so, we cannot continue to pass the buck, lament and send condolences to our people in Ibarapa as this traumatic incidences reoccur, considering the unbearable pain and losses they suffer each time.

“While some of us have been making frantic effort over time to bring the higher authorities to attention on the current insecurity situation in Ọ̀yọ́ State, via the floor of the National Assembly and through other engagements, majority of this responsibility still falls at the desk of the state governor.

“As such, the Ọ̀yọ́ state government must speed up engagement with the federal government, to solicit assistance where necessary in combating this scourge of insecurity that continues to threaten the existence of our people.

“This is because there is no flourishing where insecurity thrives, as safety remains paramount if our people are to maintain their mental and emotional stability, as well as achieve economic growth.

“I am hopeful that these terrible times will pass soon enough, and it is my prayers that our people emerge stronger from it.

“May God console the families of those who lost loved ones, and replenish the material loses of the people of Ibarapaland, amen”, Prince Akínrẹ̀mí Jagaban.
