In Memory of a Visionary: 8th Senator Abiola Ajimobi Roundtable Promotes Electoral Integrity, Democratic Values

Today, December 16, 2025, marked a significant occasion as the 8th Annual Senator Abiola Ajimobi Roundtable convened to honour what would have been the 76th birthday of the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

Hosted by Chief (Dr) Florence Ajimobi, President of the Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation (SAAF), the event took place in collaboration with the Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies (IPSS) at the University of Ibadan.

The roundtable brought together a distinguished assembly of political associates, industry leaders, and other key figures from across the nation. The discussions centred on the theme, “Pathways to Electoral Credibility: Reforming Political Parties, Re-engineering Citizens, and Restoring Trust in Nigerian Democracy.” This theme resonates deeply with Senator Ajimobi’s lifelong commitment to democratic values, good governance, and institutional reform.

Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, CFR, served as the lead speaker, highlighting the critical importance of fostering an environment that encourages meaningful dialogue and collective action in order to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic fabric.

The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Aremo Olusegun Osoba, who served as the Father of the Day, and representatives from the highest levels of government. His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was represented by Dr Zacch Adelabu Adedeji. Also present were the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Dr Tajudeen Abbas, GCON, and Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State. Governors of Oyo and Ogun States were represented by Barr. AbdulRaheem Adebayo Lawal and Engr. (Mrs) Naimot Salako Oyedele, respectively.

The roundtable also included participation from the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, as well as serving and former members of the National Assembly and other distinguished political leaders and stakeholders.

Through initiatives like this annual roundtable, the legacy of Senator Abiola Ajimobi continues to inspire conversations aimed at fostering a more credible and trustworthy Nigerian democracy.
