The Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District and a leading aspirant for Oyo State governorship seat in the 2027 general election, Dr Buhari Abdulfatai, has felicitated Oyo North constituents, Oyo State citizens and Nigerians generally as the 65th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence is celebrated across the country today.
Senator Buhari, in a press release issued and made available to journalists in the early hours of today, said the country has really enjoyed the independence from colonial masters, the challenges faced notwithstanding.

According to him, “Today, we celebrate a major milestone in our nation’s history. As we mark this occasion, we reflect on the progress we have made as a country and the benefits that democracy has brought to our people. In Oyo North, we have seen significant development and growth, and I’m proud to say that our constituents have been major beneficiaries of these advancements.

While identifying one of the most significant developments in the Oyo North Senatorial District as the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho, Senator Buhari expressed gratitude to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for signing the bill into law, which will provide Nigerian youths with access to quality education and equip them with the skills needed to drive the agricultural sector forward.
He said, “This university will be a game-changer for our region, and I am proud to have played a role in making it a reality.”
“The Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho, will provide our youth with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in agriculture and technology. This will not only improve their lives but also contribute to the growth and development of our nation. I am confident that this institution will become a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, driving economic growth and development in our region,” Senator Buhari stressed.
Buhari pledged “As your Senator, I remain committed to working tirelessly to ensure that our constituents enjoy the best quality of life. I shall continue to prioritise projects that promote education, healthcare, and economic development, and work to address the challenges that our people face. I am dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of our people and contributing to the growth and development of our nation.”
The lawmaker hinted that as Nigerians celebrate the independence anniversary, they should honour the sacrifices of their forebears who fought for their freedom. They should also recognise the progress they have made as a nation and the opportunities that lie ahead.
“I am proud to be part of a generation that is shaping the future of our nation, and I am committed to playing my role in building a better Nigeria for all,” Senator Buhari emphasised.
Buhari expressed his gratitude to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for his leadership and vision for the nation while adding that the President’s commitment to education and development is evident in the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho.
‘We appreciate Mr President’s efforts to drive growth and development in our region and nation,’ he said.
