Int’l Women’s Day: OAU Confers Meritorious Award on Chief Folasade Tinubu-Ojo • It’s A Well Deserved Honour – TLF BoT Chair, Alh Akeem Congratulates(PHOTOS).

Centre for Gender and Social Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU), Ile Ife has, today, honoured Iyaloja- General of Nigeria, Chief(Mrs) Folashade Tinubu-Ojo during a public lecture commentating this year, 2022 International Women’s Day(IWD) celebration, held at Main Hall, African Centre of Excellence in ICT-Driven Knowledge Park, OAU, Ile-Ife, Osun-State.

The theme of the lecture is “Gender Equality and Sustainable Development in Nigeria: Breaking The Bias.

The Keynote speech was given by Prof Morenikeji Oluwatoyin Ukpong and lecture delivered by Chief(Mrs) Folashade Tinubu-Ojo.

While delivering her lecture, Tinubu-Ojo said that,”Happy International Women’s Day to us all. I’m happy to be here, today. I’m joyful to stand before this august gathering. As we all know, today, is the ‘International Women’s Day(IWD)’, a day, set aside, to celebrate us, women, and our economic, political, and social achievements, around the world.

“It is also a time to focus on places and situations where major issues like gender equality, sexual abuse, women’s rights, mental health, workplace safety and economic inequality still have a long way to go.

“Indeed, we, women are blessings to humanity, from the beginning, now and forever. My fellow women of virtues and values, by all lawful means, let’s keep on striving to smash hurdles and break bias, we’re close to victory of gender- equitable world”, Tinubu Ojo encouraged.

Due to her meritorious services to humanity and womenfolk, especially, market women, the Centre conferred “Meritorious Award of Excellence” on Chief(Mrs) Tinubu-Ojo.

While addressing journalists after the programme, one of the eminent personalities, in attendance, at the event, Alhaji Ganiyu Akeem, the Board of Trustees(BoT) Chairman of Tinubu Legacy Forum(TLF) described Chief Tinubu Ojo as a rare female archetype and benefactor to many.

Alh. Akeem saluted Tinubu-Ojo’s humanitarian stance and steadfastness of being people’s helper and he encouraged her to remain persistent.”Once age,congratulations, ma, and keep on evolving, shinning and inspiring”,he said.
