IPYF Celebrates “2022 World Youth Day”, Charges CCII, Other Stakeholders to Do More for Ibadan Youths.

The Youth Wing of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, code named as “Ibadan Prime Youths Forum (IPYF)” has celebrated this year “2022 World Youth Day”. The group used the avenue to express their dissatisfaction on the high rising rate of unemployment among Ibadan Youths, and called on CCII, other stakeholders in Ibadan to salvage the situation.

The Youth Wing under the leadership of Dr. Oluwatunmise Adeagbo made the call in their July monthly meeting held on the 17th of July 2022 at Ibadan House, Oke-Aremo within Ibadan Metropolis.

Speaking at the meeting, members accused some Ibadan based government establishments of sidelining Indigenes of the city who are qualified for employment whenever there is opportunity for employment.

According to the Forum, there are many Indigenes and Youths of the city working as part time and casual workers in some of these establishments with all requirements to becoming a full time staff but will not be considered whenever there is opportunity for recruitment of full staff.

Also, the forum explicitly stated that their request is based on merit and not on “omo – onilu” or entitlement mentality syndrome, saying that “there are more than enough Ibadan sons and daughters qualified both on academic standing and skills.

The Forum finally called on the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes to be more pro-active on the issue of unemployment among Ibadan Youths and should be there at all times whenever their support is needed.
