‘Jagaban Lives On’: Ibadan North LG Immortalises Late Rep, Prince Olaide Akinremi • He Repositioned Our Federal Constituency—Political Leader

Afeez Bello,
Ibadan, Oyo State.

The executive council of Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo-State has immortalised the late Member, House of Representatives (MHR) from Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Prince Musiliu Olaide Akinremi (Jagaban), who passed away in the early month of July. The council leadership named an ultra-modern lock-up shops and motor garage after the late legislator on Thursday, September 26, at Bodija International Market, Bodija, Ibadan.

In his remarks, Hon. Lukman Adesina noted,”All praise and adoration is to Allah. Let’s continue to pray for the late Prince Olaide Akinremi, who has distinguished himself as a good and dedicated legislator who has done greatly for the people in his constituency, which has a far-reaching positive impact on them.

In his keynote address, the former Chairman, Ibadan North Local Government, and the Chairman, Housing Corporation, Hon. Kamil Demola Omotosho, highlighted that,”We appreciate God for this memorable gathering; what we are witnessing here today is transformation. This project we are commissioning today is a great example of transformation. The market women and garages that coexisted here prior to the emergence of this project will still continue their businesses and transactions. We are using the Late Prince Akinremi ultra-modern complex to help people thrive by taking them out of poverty and to achieve prosperity. We named this project after the late Prince Akinremi for the benefit of the people since this is what he stood for; he was a pro-people legislator who facilitated many projects like electric transformers, boreholes, blocks of classrooms, solar lights, etc. to enhance the security of lives and properties. He repositioned Ibadan North Federal Constituency to a higher level.

Omotosho continued,”We can never forget him; the state government can never forget him. The government appreciates what he delivered and the value he added to people’s lives’. That’s part of the reason the government is naming this shopping complex and motor garages after him. All the followers of late Prince Akinremi should rejoice; they can’t be put to shame, and they have nothing to fear since he has set a standard and legacy. I am part of the Akinremi Legacy; we are all his adopted children. This is our glory. People think that when a politician dies, he has gone forever, but late Akinremi changed the narrative through his good legacy. The road that leads to this place will soon be constructed by the government,” he assured.

In his goodwill message, the elder brother of the late honourable, Mr. Abideen Akinremi, popularly known as “Big Daddy,” noted that,”Akinremi family is impressed with what the state government has done so far, and we will not forget it. I appreciate the PAJ Legacy Team and Hon. Demola Omotosho. This is not the issue of politics. I am surprised that a ruling party in the state will be commending the good work of the opposition party chieftain. Our family appreciates the state government for their kindness towards our brother since he passed on, and they are still consolidating it. God will reward all of you that stand with the legacy of our late brother. You shall not be put to shame”, he prayed.

The project was commissioned by Chief Tunde Tijani, popularly known as T.T., to the glory of Almighty God and welfare of mankind.

In attendance were Otunba Seye Famojuro (Governor’s Representative), Engineer Babatunde Taiwo, Hon. Akinsete Olakunle (member Oyo State Housing Corporation), Hon. Seun Olufade (Ibadan North Local Government Chairman), Hon. Akeem Ayoade (Vice Chairman, Ibadan North Local Government and Political Head, Aare Latoosa LCDA), Alhaji Taofeek Akinremi (younger brother of the late honourable), Hon. Taiwo Ademola, Hon Qamardeen (Lagelu LGA), Mr Oludele Adediran, Alhaja R.O Oyebamiji (Iyaloja of Bodija Market), PAJ Legacy Team, all councillors; supervisory councillors; Special Advisers; and Head of Local Government Administration in Ibadan North LGA, Aare Latoosa and Irepodun LCDA, among several others.
