Honourable Jide Falade, a prominent figure in Oyo state politics, has congratulated Oloye Akin Alabi, the Chairman, House Committee on Works and Member representing Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, over his chieftaincy elevation as Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland, officially marking his entry into the Ibadan kingship line.

The announcement was made on Monday, May 19th, 2025, by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, at the Olubadan Palace.

Falade praised Alabi’s induction into Ibadan tribal aristocracy and Olubadan royal line, calling it a new dawn in Ibadan monarchy and expressing confidence in Alabi’s capacity to promote and protect values, virtues and interests of the ancient city.

“Regalia homage to the noble personality, Oloye Akin Alabi! As Your Highness’ coronation takes place today, Friday, May 23rd, 2025, following the customs and traditions of Ibadanland, I dearly congratulate you over your elevation from Mogaji to Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The Ibadan chieftaincy system is one of the most respected traditional structures in Yorubaland, known for its well-defined, stepwise progression through 23 hierarchical stages. The title of Jagun Olubadan is the starting point in this lineage and carries immense historical and cultural weight.

Hon. Falade, who contested to represent the Egbeda constituency in Oyo State House of Assembly in the last elections under the platform of the All Progress Congress (APC) party, stated,”This is not just a personal achievement for Oloye Akin Alabi but a proud moment for all Ibadan indigenes at home and in diasporas. Baba Oloye Tuntun has all what it takes to uphold the traditional values, customs and heritage of Ibadanland, the headquarters of Yorubaland.

“On behalf of myself, family, lovers and supporters at home and in diasporas, once again, congratulations to Jagun Olubadan Tí Óju Ọba Ibòmíràn Lọ. Baba Oloye! Hon. Akin Alabi. Aku Orire Ooo. Oye Amonri Ooo.
