‘June 12 Democracy Day’: MHR Hopeful, Socrates Greets Constituents, Salutes President Bola Tinubu

As Nigeria commemorates June 12 Democracy Day, Honourable Monsuru Akintunde Adeyemo (Socrates), a House of Representatives aspirant from Ibadan North Federal Constituency, has extended warm greetings to all constituents of the federal constituency and citizens of Nigeria.

In a solidarity statement, the former Vice Chairman of the Aare Latosa Local Council in Oyo, Socrates, reflected on the significance of democracy in promoting accountability, transparency, and the rule of law.

The pro-democracy activist, Socrates congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his second year in office and the June 12 Democracy Day celebration. “I commend our amiable leader and distinguished mentor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his unwavering commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at revitalising and repositioning Nigeria. I acknowledge PBAT’s efforts to drive progress and development. His leadership embodies the spirit of democracy, and we look forward to continued growth and prosperity under his administration. Congratulations, Sir, Mr President!

The seasoned communication consultant and resourceful journalism lecturer, Socrates noted that Nigeria has made significant strides in consolidating democracy since the June 12, 1993 presidential election annulment, particularly with the return of democratic governance in 1999 and the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2023 on the crest of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

As a hopeful representative for the constituency, Socrates outlined his vision, which includes “Empowering Citizens: Enhancing civic engagement and participation; Promoting Development: Fostering economic growth and social development, potentially through projects like the Rehabilitation and Expansion of Health Care Centres across the federal constituency; Advocating for Good Governance: Ensuring accountability and transparency, among others.”

While appreciating people, the renowned Pan-African activist and veteran student union leader, Socrates expressed appreciation to the constituents of the electoral district for their resilience and determination, urging the residents to work together towards building a brighter future.

With the struggles-tested freedom fighter and experienced politician’s vision and commitment to progress, Socrates aims to contribute to Nigeria’s development and represent the interests of his constituents effectively when given the mandate.
