“June 12”: The Insanity of A Protest !! By De Gold.
June 12 1993 was a significant day in the life of our democracy in Nigeria. For an average Yoruba man and a politician, it was a day to be proud of.
Chief MKO ABIOLA won the most peaceful election to be held in Nigeria. History will never forget how overwhelming that was. The annulment brought out anger, pains, death and regression to citizens.
Then, begins the agitation for actualization of the significance of the day 12 of June. It will be of interest that majority of the beneficiaries of the the death of the ICON of the June 12, are today the number one enemies of the day. The governor of Oyo state today threw caution into the wind and danced nakedly in the market, displaying total ‘INSANITY’ and naivety on the significance of the beautiful day.
Alas one needs not say that His Excellency was too small in 1993 to know what some people went through to be where we are today. ‘ABIOLA’ will be wringing in his grave , while the likes of Adedibu , Adesanya, and many others will be sorry for the kind of a man he has grown up to be , protest at, for what ? A question for all the advocates of good governance.
Oyo state should not be a place to display insanity, a wake up call to all the good people to come out and rewrite the history of June 12 come 2023.
