Loud in Lagos As Yoruba Youths Celebrate 20th Anniversary, Yoruba National Day, Asiwaju BAT At 69.
It was an historic and colourful day in Yoruba land as Grand Council of Yoruba Youths(GCYY) celebrated “20th Anniversary, Yoruba National Day and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu 69th birthday anniversary, yesterday, in Lagos, Nigeria.
Comrade AWA Bamiji, who is the President – General, “Aare Apapo”, of the Grand Council of Yoruba Youths(GCYY), “Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba” reported as follows;

Today, Thursday, 23rd September, 2021, will forever remain ever green in the memory of the true Yoruba Sons and Daughters as well as Lovers of African Cultural heritage all over the World as Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba, Grand Council of Yoruba Youths comprising the credible members of the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Non – Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Community Based Organisations (CBOs), National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), and National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) converged at Banquet Hall, Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, as early as 10am and kicked off the historic 135th year celebration of the end of the Kiriji war and 20th year of adoption of this date as Yoruba National Day by the World Yoruba Congress under the Leadership of Asiwaju of Yorubas, Late Senator Abraham Adesanya, at Cultural Centre, Ibadan, based on a powerful proposal moved by Chief Olorogun Pop – Adebanjo of Apapo Omo Odu’a, from Isagamu, on November 2001, as well as 20th year anniversary celebration of the Grand Council of Yoruba Youths which was dedicated to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu @ 69 in recognition of his longstanding contributions to the progress and development of Yorubaland.
Father of the Day and the Chairman, Governor’s Advisory Council, Lagos State, Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, was ably represented by Hon Lanre Afinni, Lagos Island State Constituency II, while Comrade Segun Mayegun, former NANS President, who was bestowed with his own beautifully carved Ori Olokun, ‘Orisa Oogorun Odun ti Ijijagbara Orile Ede Apapo Nijiria’, ‘Oracle of the Century for the Nigerian Democratic Struggles’ Award, received “Irawo Osan Ti Ile Odu’a”, Afternoon Star of Yorubaland” for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Apart from these two Awards which kicked off the Award ceremony of this spectacular event, a solid arrangement has been made to present other Odu’a Awards to their individual Awardees in their respective Places as from Tomorrow.
Comrade Segun Mayegun as a Representative of the Hon Minister of Interior and the immediate past Governor of Osun State, delivered his speech, on behalf of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Honourable Minister.
The Convener, Comrade AWA Bamiji, sitting on the high Table, in the midst of other revolutionary Dignitaries which included Hon Lanre Afinni, Comrade Segun Mayegun; former Vice – President, Southwest, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), who doubles as a member, National Advisory Council for the same NYCN, Comrade Lanleyin Olasunkanmi; former Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Oyejide Salam; APC Lagos State Arewa Youth Leader, Comrade Ibrahim Musa who was represented by the APC Ikeja Arewa Youth Leader, Comrade Yaya Abba while Hon Chief Anselem Udoka Echekwu, a.k.a OROBO AREGBE, the BoT Chairman, Ndi Igbo in APC Lagos, was also in attendance on the high Table.
There was a beautiful display of Yoruba Cultural Heritage throughout the event by various Cultural Groups that spiced up this event alongside Ajangila Adanla Ewi Exponent.
Because the topic of discussion was how to make Anambra 2021, Osun and Ekiti 2022 a model of approach for 2023 general election, it was unanimously agreed that for 2023 General election to be peaceful, the conduct of Anambra 2021, Ekiti and Osun 2022 must be applauded globally.
