LAUTECH Should Be Changed to LAU – Open Salawu .
Hon. Muftau Open Salawu has advised Oyo State Government led by Engr Seyi Makinde to Change Ladoke Akintola University of Technology(LAUTECH) to Ladoke Akintola University(LAU) so as to make it all inclusive and enable the university to offer more courses, expand the coast of the school, increase the intakes and economic activities the institution, Ogbomoso land and Oyo State at large .
” Osun state government gave out LAUTECH because it’s no longer economically viable for the state of Osun. Governor Seyi Makinde should amend the law that established LAUTECH and change the name to Ladoke Akintola University (LAU), Ogbomoso. This will enable the University to offer more courses, expand coast of the school, increase the intakes and economic activities of Ogbomoso and Oyo state at large”, Open Salawu maintained .
” It doesn’t matter during whose tenure that the sole ownership of LAUTECH is realized but the right thing has to be done always. When Governor Akala and Governor Oyinlola were in the same party, we could not get the ownership despite efforts by the then Oyo state government led by Gov. Akala by upgrading General Hospital Ogbomoso to Teaching Hospital standard and we hope it will serve the purpose now…. And now that we have two governors from different parties, we got the deal.
“It’s important that we all realise the sincerity of purpose of Osun state government under the leadership of Gov. Gboyega Oyetola in this deal and willingness of Governor Seyi Makinde also aided the deal.
” I hope this will serve as a good beginning of a conventional state university in Oyo state and Ogbomoso in particular”, Open Salawu said .
