LG Polls: No Electoral Officials At My Polling Unit, OYSIEC Murdered Credible Elections in Oyo – Ibadan North APC Chairmanship Candidate, Hon Adedayo Adeniyi Fumes

In what was supposed to be a day of democratic expression, the local council elections in Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State turned into a spectacle of frustration and disenchantment as Hon. Adedayo Nurudeen Adeniyi, the chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), spoke out against what he termed “unprecedented electoral fraud” orchestrated by the Oyo-State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).

The absence of OYSCIEC officials at Polling Unit 13, Ward 5, where Adeniyi was to cast his ballot, cast a shadow of doubt over the integrity of the entire electoral process.

In a passionate condemnation of the commission’s actions, Adeniyi accused OYSCIEC of being a “biassed umpire” complicit in undermining the democratic rights of the people of Ibadan North, and, by extension, Oyo State.

“OYSCIEC committed unprecedented electoral fraud in Oyo State. Indeed, they’re biassed umpire who connived with Governor Seyi Makinde to murder credible elections and hinder developmental strides at the grassroots level,” Adeniyi declared.

Despite the setbacks, Hon. Adeniyi remained resolute in his determination to seek redress through legal channels. “I’m in touch with the leadership of my party, APC, and we’re still gathering reports from across all the polling units and wards in Ibadan North LGA. By His Grace, all necessary steps within the armpit of the law will be taken to challenge these antidemocratic acts and electoral daylight robberies,” he asserted.

Expressing gratitude to his supporters, who turned out in large numbers to cast their votes, Adeniyi reassured them of his commitment to their cause. “I thank all our supporters who trooped out en masse to vote for me, my vice-chairmanship flagbearer, and all our party’s councillorship candidates in the local government. We’re more than grateful, and we promise never to let you down,” he affirmed.

In a plea for peace and adherence to the rule of law, Adeniyi urged his followers to remain calm as party leaders evaluate the situation and formulate a response. “Please, let’s remain peaceful and law-abiding. Our leaders are still studying the situations, and I want to assure you that they will come up with holistic solutions to address the issue of our stolen mandates,” he implored.

As the dust settles on the “contentious” local council elections in Ibadan North, the accusations levelled against OYSCIEC by Hon. Adeniyi cast a shadow over the credibility of the electoral process, leaving many questioning the integrity of the democratic institutions entrusted with safeguarding the sanctity of the ballot box and advancing democracy.
