LIFE’S EXPERIENCES.

Dear reader,
Have you ever wondered why we do not all have the same life’s experiences? Our experiences are strings which should be woven into lessons and stories. By the time our experiences have been woven into stories, having the same experiences will mean that we will produce similar and boring stories and we will not have diversification of beautiful lessons to learn or share.
Each one of us is unique and so is the purpose for which we were created. Therefore, our experiences must definitely align with our unique purpose and they must also contribute to the overall moulding of our relevance. Comparison and imitation will only give us unnecessary heartaches and also change the narrative of the story that our experiences are trying to tell.
Charles, the first child of a senator has everything playing out well for him. He is a graduate of History and International Relations and he plans to get married at age 30. He successfully completed the compulsory National Youth Service Corps at age 24 which means that he has about 6 years to work and prepare for his wedding and future home.
Sandra, the daughter of a retired teacher wishes to become an events planner and be married at age 27 but she is still seeking admission into a tertiary institution at age 21. Shortly after, her mother who was a petty trader got ill and died due to inadequate care. To make things worse, her father was killed by a hit and run driver days after her 22nd birthday anniversary. After this sad incidence, no one was willing to take up her care so she decided to work as a house keeper in order to make ends meet.
After a year of working in one of his father’s companies, Charles was advised to pursue a Masters degree in the United States of America before he could be appointed as the new CEO of the same company. So, he was away for a year. Upon his arrival, he met his apartment really organized and tidied, this impressed him. So, he called his mother to enquire about how she could manage his apartment alongside her numerous business trips and other commitments. I will send the brain behind that neatness you saw was all his mother could say as she excused herself off the phone.
The next day as Sandra sat across the living room, Charles would give a glance at her at intervals as he tries to finish his lunch. For about an hour, Sandra narrated her story from the struggle of her growing years to the death of her parents and the experiences she had at the 3 houses where she worked as a housekeeper before she met Charles’ mother. Charles was filled with empathy and an awe of how intelligent Sandra sounded as she presented her story.
Immediately she told him about her ambition to become an events planner, he contacted the most reputable institute where Sandra could get trained. As at this time, Charles has had a record of 4 broken relationships; it seemed as though all the ladies he met were interested in his fortune and not about having a lasting love relationship with him.
Three years had passed since Charles met Sandra. She is now a well established events planner and also a second year student of a private tertiary institution where she is studying business administration. Charles is also doing well as the new CEO of one of his father’s companies. He has been trying to give love another try but he was scared to ask Sandra because of the experiences of betrayal he has had. After making his fear known to his mother, she encouraged him to get over the hurts of the past and make his intentions known to Sandra.
On his 30th birthday anniversary, Charles made an official engagement proposal to Sandra and she gladly accepted it. A year after the proposal, they got married. It was the day of her 28th birthday anniversary and she had already graduated and now has a B.Sc Business Administration. Like I will always emphasise, our plans or goals must be flexible enough to accommodate our experiences and be adjusted as our experiences change.
Did you realise that the experiences the characters had through life and the choices they made gave birth to their final stories? Life’s experiences will teach some people empathy, compassion, humility, selflessness, patience and other values whereas life’s experiences will teach some other people selfishness, hatred, revenge, wickedness, cunningness, negativity, self pity and other vices. We can either become better or worse by life’s experiences. The choice is ours to make.
Our plans may shift a little and our experiences may even seem insurmountable but if we can keep our hope high, be positive and focus on the final story we wish to tell, we shall be able to succeed through life’s experiences. Thank you for reading.
