GOVERNOR SEYI MAKINDE’S ASSESSMENT OF BAYO ADELABU IN THE MEDIA CHAT OF TUESDAY- A PURE WHITE LIE AND POLITICAL GUNSHOT
I am no longer a fan of Oloye Bayo Adelabu, OFR , the current Minister of Power in the Federal Executive Council of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as we parted ways ,politically, shortly after the 2019 General Elections in Nigeria. Also, in all honesty I have quitted partisan politics since the demise of my Principal, Senator Abiola Ajimobi of blessed memory.
Recently, I posted on Social
media that if APC should field Bayo Adelabu as its Gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State in the 2027 General Election, that if the entire electorates in the state vote overwhelmingly for Bayo Adelabu , that he is going to become the Governor of the State without my 1(one) vote which would certainly be for another candidate of any other party in the election.
I watched and listened with rapt attention the media chat of the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde ( GSM) on Tuesday, the 23rd day of December ,2025 which was anchored by the cerebral , erudite , articulate and very experienced Dr. Reuben Abati and some other media personalities.
The Governor made so many far-reaching comments in the media chat, some of which are whole truth, while some are half-truths , some are gross distortions and misrepresentation of facts while yet some of the remainders are outright falsehood and balderdash.
My immediate concern now is to debunk the outright falsehood and pure white lie churned out by the Governor during the media chat when he said that he told President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that Bayo Adelabu lacks capacity. Although, the Governor did not give full particulars of what he meant by the “ lack of capacity “ by the Minister of Power, it is , however, undoubtedly clear that GSM meant that Bayo Adelabu lacks capacity to govern Oyo State. Nothing could be further from the truth than that empty and very hollow statement bereft of any substance and any iota of truth made by the Governor of Oyo State. GSM deliberately fired that political gunshot which has no correlation at all to the grandstanding explanation he was trying to make out during the media chat. Unlike his deceitful outward look, GSM is a very calculative and desperate politician . In actual fact, GSM is a Machiavelian.
Let me reiterate again my assertion that I have parted ways , politically, with Bayo Adelabu , even though we remain friends and brothers. Hate him or love him, Bayo Adelabu is very cerebral, extraordinarily brilliant, a genius , very deep and sound intellectually. Bayo, like every other human being , may have his shortcomings as nobody is perfect, but it would be a product of inverted and warped reasoning for anybody , no matter the standard one may use, to assert that Bayo Adelabu lacks capacity to govern Oyo State.
I make bold to say that Governor Seyi Makinde is not even in the class of Bayo Adelabu at all , either in terms of private sector or public service experience. Bayo Adelabu has distinguished himself over the years in his exceptional track record of top notch services in renown companies and organisations such as Price Water House Coopers, Standard Chartered Bank, First Atlantic Bank, First Bank of Nigeria and Central Bank of Nigeria, most of which were at the top management level. Bayo never worked in any mushroom establishment or a sole proprietorship and he was never a general merchant living on buying and selling of contract papers.
Every other person can ridicule or cast an aspersion on a washerman, but certainly not a bed-wetter, therefore Governor Seyi Makinde is not even fit or in good standing to rate or do an assessment of Bayo Adelabu because GSM is does not possess at all the requisite intelligent quotient to do so.
