Workers Day: Adelabu says Workers are crucial to Sustenance of Democracy, Advancement of the Nation.

As workers all over the world, and Nigeria in particular, celebrate workers’ day, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN), Chief Abdulwaheed Adebayo Adelabu has urged government and corporate organisations to continue to pay adequate attention to the welfare of workers through regular payment of their salaries and allowances.

Chief Adelabu made this known in his message to the workers across the country, and Oyo-State in particular. He lamented the current challenges facing the workers and labour force which have consequently reduced their productivity across board.

“Workers are crucial to the sustenance of the nation’s nascent democracy and economic development of the country. A productive and friendly environment for workers will surely bring the much needed development and reduce corruption which has affected nearly all sectors of our economy. No nation can grow economically and socially without giving adequate attention to her work force by motivating them for effective service delivery”, Adelabu stated.

Chief Abdulwaheed Adebayo Adelabu also used this ‘May day’ celebration to call on the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU to reach a reasonable agreement in the interest of the students and advancement of the education sector.

“The incessant strike by ASUU and other Union in the country has negatively affected the education sector and future of Nigeria youths”,he lamented.

Chief Adebayo Adelabu salute that,”The courage and doggedness of Nigerian workers, despite the dwindling economy, are in intact and labour remain resolute in contributing their qouta towards Nation building.
