MHR, Akin Alabi Mourns Late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Adeyemi.
The Honourable representing Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, Oloye Akin Alabi has commiserated with the government and people of Oyo State on the transition of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Lamidi Adeyemi III, The Alaafin of Oyo.
In a statement from his media office, the Honourable described Oba Adeyemi, Iku Baba Yeye, as one of the few custodians of the Yoruba culture and traditions who will be sorely missed by the Yoruba race. To him, he said it was shocking to hear of his demise in a time like this. He also extolled his uncommon qualities and personal admiration for him.
“The demise of the first class traditional leader is a great loss to the Government and people of Oyo State and even the nation at large. He was untill his death, a figure of peace whose 52 years of reign engendered tolerance, reconciliation and prosperity to the people.
“The highly revered king will surely be remembered for his unbiased commitment to the political stability of Oyo State and the Country. An exemplary leader who always preached unity and harmony across the traditional ruling class.
“I extend my deep condolences to the family of Oba Lamidi and indigenes of Oyo town. It is my prayer that the Almighty God will grant everyone the fortitude to bear the loss!!
