The Member, House of Representatives (MHR) Hopeful on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Ibadan North Federal Constituency byelection, Hon. Socrates continued,”As you embark on this exciting academic journey, I urge you to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Engineering is a field that requires dedication, creativity, and perseverance. I encourage you to be curious, innovative, and collaborative in your pursuit of knowledge.
“To the freshers, I welcome you to the Faculty of Engineering family. This orientation programme marks the beginning of your transformation into skilled engineers, equipped to tackle the complex problems of our time,” the notable pan-African activist, Socrates, noted.
“To the faculty members and organisers, I commend your efforts in creating a supportive and inclusive environment for our students to thrive,” the resourceful journalism lecturer, Adeyemo, lauded.
“Once again, I congratulate you all on this milestone event. I wish you a successful and enriching academic year ahead.” Hon. Adeyemo submitted.
Early in his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty, Engr. (Dr.) D.A. OKE, urged the newly matriculated students to stay away from anything that will hinder their progress and ensure that they scale through all the challenges before them and ahead. “It is not expected of you to fail to pass. Bagging anything below Upper and Lower Credit will amount to enrolment again; that’s why you need to sit up. Be a good ambassador wherever you are. It is worthy of note that coming to the campus is not based on your learning alone but on characters. He encouraged the students to know much about their course registration and graduation requirements.”Kudos to the NAPES current and past Executives, Student Representative Council,” he lauded.
While encouraging the students, the Assistant Faculty Officer (AFO), Mrs. Omowumi Susan, highlighted the importance of registration, documentation, and submission, as well as challenges and problems regarding delay in faculty registration since it is the most important aspect of registration on campus. Failure to register on time will pose a serious challenge to any student and deny the student as a bona fide member of the faculty. Any typographical error in a student’s name will deny such student any recognition in the faculty book. It will inhibit them from accessing information from the faculty officers and hinder their political participation on campus. This will also deny the students access to the matriculation oath, faculty souvenirs, among others. Faculty officers will not sign final clearance for any students that failed to register on time, and it will also affect the student’s admission. Failure to carry out the registration process at the appropriate time attracts a fine and inhibits students from having access to the examination docket,” she emphasised.
In attendance were Engineer Adio, Mrs. Fawole, Hon. Afenifere Yussuf, Comrade Akintunji Sultan, Comrade Tegbe, Oladipupo Olamide Daniel (Student Union President) and his executives, among several others.
