A leading presidential aspirant of the National Association of Nigerian Students(NANS), Comrade Alli Egbesola popularly known as Neonate has paid tribute to the four student union leaders who lost their lives on July 13, 2012 along Akure-Owo road in Ondo state while coming from national assignments .
The former NANS Vice President (External Affairs), Egbesola prayed to God for the repose of their souls and promised total commitment to the pro- people , pro- students and genuine struggles they laid their lives down for .

Every July 13 is a memorable day for all Nigerian students, especially, for the people of Southwestern region (Zone D) of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) .
Today is the exact eight years that a ghastly motor accident claimed the lives of our beloved four student leaders and got many injured.
It was gathered that the accident occurred along Akure-Owo road when the student leaders were returning from Abuja, where they had gone to advance their struggles against the tyrannical rule of Prof. Abiodun Adeyemi Idowu of Adeyemi College of Education, the then Provost of the college and also to use the avenue to give solidarity support to Governor Mimiko, who was receiving NANS National Award .
The late student union leaders were:
- Olotu Oyinkansola- SUG President, Ondo State School of Midwifery. (OSSOM).
- Adedapo Awopegba- SUG President, Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA).
- Akintola Abiodun-SUG President, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo (ACE).
- Olugbenga Aremo- NANS Vice President (External Affairs).
Our dear fallen heroes, heroines and comrades!, we, the “Team ALLI EGBESOLA FOR NANS NATIONAL PRESIDENT -2020” reaffirm it that we will never forget your immense contributions to pro- people and pro- students struggles as well as your service to humanity .
Dear fallen comrades!, You did not die in vein as we will always uphold the tenets of the genuine struggles that you laid your lives for .
May God in his infinite mercy be with your families, give us all fortitude to bear the loss and repose your souls .
And we pray for the survivors of the accident, people like Comrade Socrates, Comrades Osama and others that
may God perfect everything that concerns them and us all as well .
May the god of Aluta guide our movement in the field of struggles and wherever we are (Mayan).
