NCC Chairman, Prof Akande Facilitates Upgrade of “Wireless Campus, Wide Internet Access” for LAUTECH, Ibadan Poly.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande has facilitated the upgrade of the Wireless Campus Wide Internet Access at the Ladoke Akintola University(LAUTECH), Ogbomosho and The Polythecnic, Ibadan.

The project is part of the Wireless Internet Cloud(WIC) Programme of the Federal Government implemented by the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC) under the Advance Digital Appreciation Programme for Tetiary Institutions(ADAPTI).

The programme is to provide wireless connectivity within the campus community to enhance learning and access to educational content even after school hours.

In a letter dated September 27 2021 addressed to the Vice Chancellor of LAUTECH,Ogbomosho and Rector of the Polythecnic,Ibadan respectively, the Director,Projects Department of NCC informed that “the nomination of your institution was based on the recommendation of Professor Adeolu Akande,Chairman,Governing Board of the Nigerian Communications 

It had been reported earlier that Professor Akande  facilitated  a Digital Nigeria Centre(DNC)  for the Government College,Ibadan.

The DNC is a federal government programme to improve learning and research by promoting the connection of government schools across Nigeria to broadband. 

The programme includes the provision of desktops,teacher laptops, reburfishment of ICT lab including electrical, mechanical and civil works,furniture for the ICT lab, providing of learning software, internnet access,solar energy and one year technical and maintainance support to  beneficiary schools.

The programme is managed by the Universal Service Provider Fund(USPF) ,an arm of the NCC, established primarily to facilitate the achievement of national policy goals for universal access and universal service to Information and Communication Technologies in rural, unserved and undeserved areas in the country.
