Nigeria At 61: IPYF Charges Nigerian Youths To Hold Leaders, Politicians Accountable.
The Influential Youth Socio- Cultural Organisation,Ibadan Prime Youths Forum(IPYF), on Friday, has encouraged youths in Nigeria to hold their leaders and politicians responsible for the deplorable state of things in the Country.
IPYF made this call through her National Coordinator, Dr. Oluwatunmise Adeagbo in his Independence day press statement.
“Nigerian youths must start to ask questions from their political leaders and political office holders. Questions pertaining to the state of development and their stewardship of duties, also, issues around the implementation of their campaign promises”, Adeagbo reiterated.
“It’s important for Nigerian youths, to as, a matter of urgency, during electioneering period engage politicians on how best they intend to achieve their campaign promises, as this will help know those who are ready for governance and whether these potential political office holders really understand what leadership and governance entail”
The Forum registered its displeasure towards the state of the country’s economy and it described it has a result of a failed leadership and governance, especially, from the politician.
However, the youth wing of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes(CCII), IPYF appreciated some politicians that are doing the right things. ‘At this juncture, we applaud some of our leaders that are performing very well. Though, they are few, but some of them know their onions’.
The IPYF National Coordinator further encouraged youth to work very hard and make Nigeria work, again. He reiterated that Nigeria has a lot of potentials to rise if it is sincerely and collectively worked on.
“This is our homeland, we should not loose hope on Nigeria. It can work based on our collective efforts. We must hold our leaders accountable for how they manage our country and sack them if they seem not to perform. We must work hard to make it work. We can sack the irresponsible and the underperformed politicians by voting them out during elections”,Dr Adeagbo proclaimed.
Adeagbo charged youth to remain courageous in the face of many challenges confronting, as their future remain bright if they can stand on their feet and dare the status quo.”My fellow youths! Let’s celebrate Nigeria with a view of a better future”, he encouraged.
