Nigeria’s Development Dilemma in Focus As Adeola Adelabu Becomes 44Th President of JCI Ibadan.

Eminent Nigerians and young citizens have recently converged in Ibadan to x-ray the role of the youth in National Development.

This was the Theme of the Annual Convention of Junior Chamber International(JCI), Ibadan which was held
On Saturday, 5th of December 2020 at Jogor Center.

The event, which doubled as the investiture of JCIN Ambassador Adeola Adelabu Ibadan as President, had in attendance The Chairman of Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), Prof Adeolu Akande; The Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt (Hon) Adebo Ogundoyin; Senior Partner at KPMG, Engr Joseph Tegbe who was represented by Mr Femi Adeleke, the ED of Tegbe Foundation, Sen Soji Akanbi, Hon Musiliu Akinremi who also sent in representatives; JCI Senators Muyiwa Bamgbose, Ayo Abolusodun, Olabisi Aniso and Seun Osinkalu who are Past National Presidents of JCI Nigeria;
Past Presidents of JCI Ibadan and Presidents from other local organisations.

While delivering his keynote address, Rt(Hon) Ogundoyin challenged youths to play a key role in contributing to national development. He challenged youths to be more involved in the process of governance, especially in Oyo State that has many young political functionaries.

Prof Adeolu Akande did justice to the Theme, “Nigeria’s Development Dilemna, role of the Youth”. In his speech, he outlined the obstacles faced by the youths in their quest for a better Nigeria while also preferring detailed solutions. He challenged young Nigerians to organize, rather than agonize.

The highlight of the day was the Investiture of the 44th President of the Local Organization, JCIN Ambassador Adeola Adelabu. In his acceptance speech, he articulated his plans and laid out the blueprint for the year 2021. Top on the list of items was the launching of the JCI Ibadan Skills Centre, that will provide young people access to acquiring relevant skills, and also serve as a permanent Secretariat for the Organization.

While swearing in his Board members, President Adelabu challenged them to work hand in hand with him to ensure a smooth run. He urged JCI members to continue to be good Ambassadors of the organisation and lead by creating impact wherever they are. He commended the immediate past President JCIN Ambassador Oluwafemi Marquis for creating impact despite the pandemic.
