The demise of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, has been described as a great loss not only to Ibadan, Oyo State, but Nigeria as a whole.

The Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Dr. Buhari Abdulfatai, made this statement in a press release issued to mourn the death of Oba Balogun, made available to journalists in the early hours of today in Abuja.

In the release titled,”Mourning the Demise of an astute and foremost Oba in Oyo State, Oba Dr. Lekan Balogun,” Senator Buhari said that though too short on the throne of Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun’s reigns brought unprecedented legacies, especially on peace and stability, not only to Olubadan in Council but the entire Ibadanland.

The Senator condoled with the immediate family of the deceased monarch, Olubadan-in-Council, Ibadanland, the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, and the Oyo State government, praying to God to grant all fortitude to bear the great loss.

“As a Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria before he ascended the throne of Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun contributed in no small ways towards a united and indivisible Nigeria, and so he will continually linger in the minds of every soul in the National Assembly,” Senator Buhari affirmed.

The lawmaker also prayed to God to elongate the lives of other traditional rulers in Oyo State so that their subjects and government at all levels will continue to tap from their naturally gifted wisdom and knowledge to foster a developed, peaceful, and united society.
