Oluwo! We Are Solidly Behind You, We Kick Against Land Grabbers – Iwo People Declare

The good people of Iwo land in their multitudes including crown princes, youth, market women, community leaders, elders among others in Iwo and its environs have trooped out en masse today to stage a solidarity rally in support of Oluwo of Iwo Land, Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi and to hail his decision against those kings under him who choose oppression and land grabbing as means of their survival and livelihood.

There were rumours that the people of Iwo are not in support of Oluwo’s decision to wage war against land grabbers but the masses today have shown the world whom Oluwo is to his and people at large .

The shops and markets were closed during the solidarity rally, demanding that all coronets giving to those lesser monarchs be revoked if they cannot preserve the landed properties put under them and sacredness of their stools .

The princes, youth, market men and women, community leaders, Islamic scholars including chief Imam of Iwoland, Okada riders, Iwoland students’ union and different associations were all gathered in support of Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi. They said, the gang up and plots against Oluwo began as a result of his decision in waging war against illicit practices among some royal fathers which many of them detest.

According to them, “People are crying in silence and nobody hears their voices. Oluwo took it up as his fight, called on these Obas and advised them to find means of survival but the next action was to render him blinded and paralyzed by pointing a staff of office at him. Is this not ridiculous? Must we continue to watch an injustice persisting on our soil? Are they not ganging up to render Iwoland useless again as they have been doing in the past? This is a fight for Iwo survival and we are ready to take it up to any length” multitudes of Iwo people declared.
