On Afghanistan, The Great Western Cop Out And Lessons for Nigerians !! By Otunba Eric Ayoola.

For me the lesson of Afghanistan really is that those who think that winning a war against terrorist is child’s play or that the Nigerian army is doing nothing to stop Boko Haram must now have a rethink.

Without the brave and resolute service of our troops in the defence of our nation, Boko Haram would have taken over Nigeria from Borno to Lekki as we speak.

Despite their wealth and arms and massive technology, the West could not defeat the hardliners in the Taliban.

For 20 years America, Nato and other Western powers spent billions and lost many brave souls….yet, they failed to do more than contain the hardliners. And just a day or two after their unceremonious departure the Taliban rolled back into power.

So that our troop have been able, with far less financial and technological outlay, to kettle and contain the terrorists in our land to a corner of the country is very very impressive and laudable.

So moral of the story, support our troop, stop bad mouthing them, stop running to American or British streets to launch inane and pointless protests against your nation, shine your eyes and be a patriot.

Without the Nigerian army, brave men and women, keeping fundamentalists and terrorists at bay, they would have swarmed over the entire country by now and imposed their brand of fundamentalist Islam on us all.

Men would be forced to wear long beards and dress like the conquering jihadist and with our women withdrawn from school and chased away from their work places and confined to the home as baby bearers and house keepers.

Support our troop. Support your country.
