Our Positions: The Progressives | By Dr Nathaniel Idowu Akano

I voted for the first time in 1979 in my form five final year, and one thing I grabbed still stays in my memory:DISCIPLINE!
This single factor aligns with my philosophy, hence the zeal to go into politics.
Pa Awo was to land at Africa Baptist pry school in Saki, Oyo North and Chief Koleoso was to position our youth forum to join the lead to the town hall.

He was an aspirant, and despite that he was one of the chief hosts, he sat very far behind.

Apart from being the chief, he was also a HEAVY FINANCIER of the visiting team.
Humbly, he adhered to PA Awo’s entourage:DISCIPLINE!
THAT WAS WHEN “THE PROGRESSIVE ” was actually PROGRESSIVE!
On the contrary, what do we see now?
- Aspirants have become leaders
- Money-bag Aspirants are stakeholders
- Aspirants sit on the high table while the ELECTED, APPOINTED, ERSTWHILE GOVERNMENT Functionaries stare in the crowd.
- Aspirants pick microphones while a Commissioner, S.A., SSG, BoardChairmen, Councillors, LG Chairmen and VCs, etc listen as if Teachers are taking lectures from students.
- Now we complain of party’s malfunctioning: but the experienced are not ‘somebody’.
- It is the air hostess piloting the aircraft
- Pary affairs controllers should please put PARTY LOYALTY, ABSOLUTE LOYALTY at prioritized supremacy, at least, for their CREDIBILITY sake!
- In those days , Councillors were leaders and stakeholders in their wards, ditto others in their respective local governments and constituencies
- ĘJĘ KÁ ŞE BI WỌN ŞE N ŞE , KI O LÈ RÍ BI O TI N RÍ
- TO YOUR TENTS, OH! THE PROGRESSIVES
- THINK QUALITY, NOT QUANTITY
- GOD BLESS THE PROGRESSIVES!
