Oyo 2023: I Remain Bonafide Member of APC, Ignore Defection Rumours – Ex Council Gaffer, Lekan Afuye Clarifies.
Former Chairman of the 11 Local Government Areas and 14 Local Council Development Areas(LCDA’s) in Ibadan Land, Honourable Abdul-Rasheed Lekan Afuye has cleared the air of controversy trailing his purported defection from the All Progressives Congress(APC) to Accord Party, in Oyo-State.
In a media chat on Monday, while reacting to the news of his assumed defection to Accord Party, the successful Real Estate Magnate, Hon. Afuye stated that his stand as a loyal member of APC in Oyo remained firm and unshaking.
“I, Olalekan Rasheed Afuye, remain a bona fide member of the All Progressives Congress, in Oyo-State.
“I don’t play bitter politics. Chief Bayo Adelabu is my friend and I can’t deny knowing him because of politics. So, honouring his courtesy visit’s invitation doesn’t make me a member of Accord Party.
“Meanwhile, some admin members on various APC WhatsApp platforms are taking issues too personal and they are trying to use current political situation in our party to score cheap points. Yes, I reiterate, many are using current political situation in Oyo APC to settle personal scores.’Koi Ye Won, Yio Ye Won Lola.
“I’ve never attended any Accord Party’s meeting and I’m not planning to do so. For your information, Kolapo Kola-Daisi is my very good brother and preferred aspirant for 2023 Oyo South Senatorial District’s race and despite being his Campaign Organisation’s Director General, I didn’t decamp with him when he left APC for accord.
“Presently, I’m Deputy National Chairman of All People’s Coalition for Asiwaju Tinunbu(APCAT)-2023. We are well grassrooted and properly recognized by our great Leader and Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, himself. I have no time to join issues with anybody as our main focus, now, is to make Oyo state and Nigeria great again. It’s to improve on our security of lives and properties, to make economic improvements and to record remarkable gains on our religious and ethnic tolerance, and peaceful coexistence. I just need to set the record straight and let me use this avenue to appeal to everyone to go and get his or her PVC, or revalidate the existing ones, to be able to have a say in the forthcoming general election.
