Oyo 2023: I’m Contesting to Reciprocate Free Education Given to Me By Great Awo, to Serve My People Diligently – Dr Adeduntan Says As Int’l Cardiovascular Surgeon Features on “Bonselo” Radio Prog.

A leading Gubernatorial Hopeful on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC), come 2023, in Oyo-State and International Cardiovascular Surgeon, Doctor Azeez Popoola Adeduntan has featured on “Bosenlo” Radio Programme, on Saturday, in Ibadan and reiterated his commitment to serve the good people of Oyo-state, come 2023.

The Osi Bashorun of Ibadan Land reiterated it that as an unrepentant truth-sayer, he was on the programme to say nothing but truth.

While reminiscing on Dr Adeduntan’s political journey, the radio Presenter, Temitayo recalled that the international cardiovascular surgeon was the governorship candidate for Labour Party, in 2011 while in 2015, he came out to contest for governorship race under the platform of People’s Democratic Party(PDP) and in 2019 he was also making gubernatorial bid on the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC). Temitayo queried cross carpeting but Dr Adeduntan intelligently responded that he solely sponsored Labour Party in 2011 and he would have won hands down but the nature of that party then made him lost out, then. Adeduntan frowned at ideological degeneracy and lack of political philosophy in Nigerian political space. “I’ve second address. Without trying to sound immodest, I’m international cardiovascular surgeon. I’m contesting and passionate to serve good people of Oyo-State because of immortality and to promote development politics. If not free education programme of the late great Chief Obafemi Awolowo, I wouldn’t have been educated. I know the importance of education and development politics as exemplified by Great Awo.

“I want to serve good people of Oyo-State in order to reciprocate what God did for me through Awolowo/Akintola and to serve my people diligently…. I’m very comfortable to stay in Ibadan, Oyo-State rather than going back to America despite the pressures from my clients and people over there. I’m a full blooded indigene of Ibadan land and good citizen of Oyo-State. I’m Osi Bashorun of Ibadan not Osi Bashorun of USA. My passion is to dedicatedly serve my people as I’ve said earlier. So help me God.

“I came back home to make difference and I believe that God rewards persistence. It might be hard but I will definitely come victorious come 2023. Historically, Bashorun has never been a coward, so, we remain undaunted and victory is certain.

While addressing the issues of the current bipolarity in Oyo APC, former Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr Adeduntan maintained that he is a nonaligned chieftain of the party, APC. According to him, both sides used their desperation to throw the party in the current chaotic situations.

“I’m not a career politician. I detest manipulation. You can’t put something on nothing. If you hijack party structure, you can never hijack what is not preordained for you in your destiny. So, I believe my God and I believe my people. Primary election is coming and by His Grace, I will be the chosen one.

While responding to whom he prefers to preside over Nigerian affairs, come, 2023, Adeduntan reiterated it that as a Nigerian person, he prefers whoever that will patriotically fix the country.“Power belongs to God. It’s not by might but by God’s grace. So, let’s all fear God in our dealings.

While addressing the issue of brain drain in health sector, former Health Commissioner, Dr Adeduntan said that, “What we have in health care system as at today in Oyo-State is a disaster because the indices that were there when I was the commissioner are no longer there now and this is one of the reasons I’m contesting to clear the mess, brought by this current administration.

On security matters, Dr Adeduntan lamented over the rate of rising insecurity waves in the state and frowned at Gov. Makinde’s ineptitude to curb the menace. “Seyi Makinde is my brother and he has done his best. Meanwhile, his best is not good enough as the best for Oyo-state… Facts are sacred and they are bitter. In fact, under this Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, security of lives and properties is dead. People can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed in Oyo-state.

“There are crises across the nooks and crannies of Oyo-state and that didn’t happen during Gov. Ajimobi’s tenure…..Seyi Makinde made a lot of mistakes when he first started because he doesn’t have experience. Experience matters a lot. I’ve been a commissioner and we’ve worked under one of the best governors in Nigeria as that time. I’m very objective as an international surgeon and nobody can challenge this rating and say it’s a mere saying, because of my objectivity on the matters.

“On security, I say it once again, Seyi Makinde failed woefully and we have to reverse it……. We’ve to save Oyo state from Makinde’s maladministration…APC is going to be united and elect a candidate to dislodge this current PDP led administration.

Dr Adeduntan frowned at Seyi Makinde’s steps to disband School Governing Board(SGB).”Governor Ajimobi and Prof Olowofela started SGB but Engr Makinde disbanded it and three months after, he came back to reverse his decision. This is trial and error approach and it is a bad attitude for a governor. The hallmarks of a governor are three things; Judgement, temperament and character, and Makinde failed in all.

“Within 24 hours, Bisi Ilaka announced dissolution of local government administration and till now, local governments are still paralyzed in the state. Look at the refuse disposal matters. This is the work of local governments but they are not that functioning under Engr Seyi Makinde.

“I’m saying this bitter truth because I love Oyo-State more than Seyi Makinde, even, more than myself. We’ve to move forward. The only thing Seyi Makinde has done is prompt payment of workers’ salary, as claimed. Meanwhile, it is duty of government to pay wages of its or their employees. Gov. Ajimobi did this if not for economic recession that occurred then.

“Let Seyi Makinde go to his Ajia Farm. He is a trial and error governor. He has nothing to offer the good people of Oyo-state. Oyo state deserves the best.

“Most of what Makinde parades as his achievements, today, were done by late Gov. Ajimobi….. As I said, earlier, Seyi Makinde is my brother and he has done his best but his best is not good for Oyo-state.

Adeduntan also carpeted Makinde on construction of bus terminals and described it as the misplaced priority.

Fuming on how Makinde treated his predecessor in tittle, Dr Adeduntan stated that, “Seyi Makinde’s failure to greet Gov. Ajimobi’s wife after former governor’s demise is a failure of character. I’m saying it to the world today, Makinde did not do well at all on this. No matter how, Ajimobi was your predecessor in tittle and you were both together in ANPP. At least, he deserved courtesy from you.

On Makinde “touted” populism, Adeduntan said,“Governor should lead and you can’t allow people to lead you….On conclusive note, on policemen’s brutal murder during End SARS,in the state, Seyi Makinde should go and beg IG and Oyo-State CP. NPF is not happy with him because of his conspiracy against Police during End SARS. End SARS protest is against SARS not entire police. We needed to wage war against that unit’s alleged highhandedness under NPF not to bring the whole system down.

While fielding question on food security and ensuring effective security of lives and properties for citizenry, in the state, Adeduntan said that, ”Though, Makinde stated that he would ensure farm settlement but nothing to show for it. Farm settlement as pioneered by Great Awo must come back and ministry of Agriculture must encourage farmers in all ramifications.
“On security, I was part of security network founded by Gov. Ajimobi. It comprised Police, Soldiers and others key stakeholders in security sector and they were up to the task to forestall any crisis….Royal fathers must also be involved. I’m here to defend fact not Ajimobi. I was trained in a society where truth is sacred…. As I said Seyi Makinde has done his best but his best is not enough for the state. Oyo state deserves highest form of quality governance.
