Oyo 2023: Support Me, I Promise to Serve You Diligently – Sen Folarin Assures Religious Leaders, Traditional Rulers, Artisans, Others As APC Guber Flagbearer Visits ‘Home’, Ibadan Northeast LGA.

The Gubernatorial Standardbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo-State, come 2023, Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin has assured good people of the state, diligent service and purposeful governance, if the mandate is given.

Former Senate Leader, Sen. Folarin made this assurance on Tuesday while meeting traditional rulers, religious leaders and other critical stakeholders during his consultation visit and campaign tour to his aboriginal local government, Ibadan Northeast.

Meeting with Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN).
While meeting with the leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN), in the local government, Sen. Folarin hailed the association’s leadership and appreciated their critical roles in nation building. He patiently took time to clarify issues surrounding Muslim- Muslim ticket and he canvassed support for APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In his words,”This is last meeting of our campaign tour. It’s delibrate because this is my home and as your son, I promise never to let you down. To us, one on one campaign is far better that street campaign, and that’s why we’re here today. Please, we count on your support and prayer. Support our candidates at all strata and by His Grace, we’ll not disappoint you.

While extolling Yoruba spirit of oneness, fraternity and unity in diversity, Folarin nostalgically recalled his childhood days, and revealed that he attended Christian Primary School.”I attended Methodist Boys High School. My son also attended Catholic school because I know the importance of quality education that I benefitted from the Missionary School and I want my son to also benefit from such.

Dispelling rumour against Asiwaju Tinubu’s Presidential Bid, Folarin stated that “Our Leader and Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s wife, Chief(Mrs) Oluremi Tinubu is a Pastor at Redeem Christian Church of God(RCCG) and her three children are practising Christianity. Asiwaju has never made any attempt to hinder them or take step to convert them. He’s a tribalized statesman and genuine patriot that this moment calls for.

Reflecting on plurality, tolerance and understanding of Yorubas, Sen. Folarin cited example of Gov. Abiola Ajimobi whom he said that,”He married Christian wife, Chief (Dr) Florence Ajimobi, and his four daughters are practising Christianity.

“Power is a game of struggles. You can’t really influence anything without power. As we all know, what they use power to do are many. If mandate is given, we will address the issues of insecurity, unemployment, poor funding of education, dwindling economy among others. Indeed, we’re passionate to get power and to save all and sundry. Ours is to create a better future for our state and Nigeria at large.

“Knowing people is the beginning of politics. We know you, we’ve come to you for your prayer and support, and we assure you of responsible and responsive governance, if mandate is given.

Folarin maintained that Asiwaju Tinubu needs an highly experienced and grassroots politician like Sharafadeen Alli to accompany him to Abuja as Senator representing Oyo South District. He hailed Alli’s political credentials and charismatic mode of leadership.

Apostle Sunday Oladiti JP, the CAN Coordinator in the local government, responded enthusiastically and saluted Folarin as wiseman that has presented his matters intelligently.


Apostle Oladiti JP revealed that all zones and blocs of CAN in the local government were well represented to receive Folarin and his entourage. He prayed for Folarin and other APC candidates’ victory and wished them success in their endeavors.

On Sen. Folarin’s entourage were Akogun Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, Alhaji MKO Olaoye, Hon. Shina Alabi, Hon. Yemi Aderibigbe, Hon. Kehinde Subar, Hon. Wale Aderibigbe, Hon. Yinka Folarin, Hon. Among the Ibadan Northeast leaders that played host to Sen. Folarin were Prince Gbade Lana, Hon. Ismail  Akindele Bin Ladin, Hon. Abiodun Ambali, Hon. Lekan Afuye, Hon. Kehinde Oloya, Hon. Rasak Akinola and others.

Meeting with League of Imams and Alfas.

Coordinator, Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council in the State, and APC Guber Candidate, Sen. Folarin took his message of Rescue Mission and Asiwaju’s Renewed Hope to League of Imams and Alfas in the local government.

Folarin appreciated the clerics for their love and prayers. He encouraged them to support APC candidates at all strata and, on behalf of all flagbearers, he promised never to let them down.

While responding, President, League of Imams and Alfas in the local government, Sheikh Muhammad Quasim Adepoju who also doubled as Mogaji/Imam Kehinsi, prayed for the APC leaders and he wished them successful electoral outing.

Meeting with Traditional Rulers.

Sen. Folarin also met with traditional rulers and community leaders. He assured them of purposeful governance and he promised to be proactive in all issues relating to traditional institutions and communities.

Among the eminent traditional title holders in attendance were Oloye Ikolaba, Oloye Bada Balogun, Asoju Balogun, Oloye Onindere, Mogaji Ile Aninsere, Mogaji Ile Elegba Owo, Mogaji Ile Molade, Mogaji Ile Arorotosuna, Mogaji Ile Ajayi Amodu, Mogaji Ile Idowu Oluoye, Mogaji Ile Ajia Olohunditi, Mogaji Ile Bada Odeaje, Mogaji Adagbayi, Mogaji Ile Apapa, Mogaji Ile Arolu Labo, Mogaji Ile Aralude Beyerunka, Mogaji Ile Ile Nla, Mogaji Ile Jenriyin Ita Baale, Mogaji Ile Agba Gba Jo, Asoju Mogaji Makinde Oke Ofa Atipe, Baale Ayekale, Otun Baale Agodi, Balogun Baale Araromi, Iyalode Baale Araromi Agodi, Mogaji Odugade and others.

Community Development Council(CDC) was led by its Chairman and Secretary, Alhaji Dauda Odelade and Alhaji H.O Yusuf, respectively.

Sen. Folarin hailed the traditional rulers and community leaders in attendance.

He revealed that one of the purposes of his visit to Ibadan Northeast is to meet with them as critical stakeholders that he dearly holds in high esteem. 

“APC is Yoruba party. As custodians of Yoruba culture and traditions, it’s already yours. It’s your party and it’s our party. Please, rally round us all and we promise to serve you, meritoriously.

“Of course, I’m one of you and I know how important you’re. Your Majesties and Highnesses are the closest to the grassroots and we’ll prioritize you, if the mandate is given.

“Asiwaju wants to start hitting ground running from day one and that is why he demanded for candidates without learner’s plate number. Barr Sharafadeen Alli is a grassroots and experienced politicians that knows people. Like Hon. Dapo. He’s an hero and a son of the legend. He’s tested and trusted.

Folarin promised to revolutionise traditional institution and made life more better for the traditional rulers, if the mandate is given.

While responding, representative of High Chief Olakulehin charged former Senate Leader to properly take care of the traditional rulers, if he eventually becomes Oyo helmsman. He also prayed for Folarin electoral victory.

Mogaji Bada Odeaje, Chief Adetoyese Adekola extolled Folarin’s virtues and assured him of unflinching supports.

Sen. Folarin also had heart to heart meetings with other critical stakeholders like artisans, traditional healers among others. He rounded up the visit after addressing massive and joyful party’s chieftains and faithful at APC Ibadan Northeast LGA General Meeting which was held at St. Cyprian Catholic School, Ibadan.
