Oyo 2027: We’re with You—Ibadan Traditional Rulers Declare Support for Agbaje

Traditional Baales in Ibadanland have declared their full support for Barr Akeem Adedeji Agbaje’s 2027 governorship ambition, expressing confidence in his capacity to lead Oyo State to greater heights. The declaration was made during a meeting held at the palace of Baale Ekotedo, Chief (Elder) Dr Taiye Ayorinde (JP), in Ibadan North West Local Government Area, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the General President of the Ibadan Traditional Baales in Council and Aare of Aroro Town, Chief Oladepo Wasiu Atilola of Akinyele Local Government Area, alongside Baale Ekotedo, Dr Taiye Ayorinde, extolled Agbaje’s leadership qualities, describing him as the embodiment of Omoluabi, a person of noble character.

“We are not politicians, but we know Barr Akeem Agbaje is a true Omoluabi. He possesses all the qualities needed to lead Oyo State to the promised land,” said Chief Atilola.

The Baales acknowledged Agbaje’s longstanding contributions to the people of Oyo State, citing his acts of kindness, community support, and family legacy. They emphasised that Agbaje’s reputation and family background, particularly as a grandson of the late Chief Salami Agbaje, a distinguished philanthropist and financier of Ibadan’s growth, have made his work easier in earning the trust and support of the people.

“It is time for Ibadanland to give back to the family of Chief Salami Agbaje, who made selfless sacrifices for the development of Ibadan, both academically and financially. Barr Akeem Agbaje has already laid a solid foundation for good leadership with his antecedents,” the Baales remarked.

The traditional rulers encouraged Agbaje to continue to uphold the values of his father, Chief Salami Agbaje, and assured him of their unwavering support and prayers throughout his gubernatorial journey.

In response, Barr Akeem Agbaje expressed his deep gratitude to the council of traditional Baales for their endorsement, wisdom, and prayers. He pledged not to let them down but to work tirelessly in delivering the dividends of good governance if elected into office.

“I am sincerely grateful for your support and words of encouragement. I promise not to disappoint you, and I will make Ibadanland and Oyo State proud. When mandate is given, my administration will ensure that the people enjoy the full benefits of good governance,” Agbaje emphasised.
