Oyo ACOMORAN Deliberates Association’s Progress, Hails Makinde, Famojuro, Salutes Tommy, Kuso
The Oyo state chapter of the Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners, Repairs, and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) has held a meeting of stakeholders of the association on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the union secretariat along Total Garden Agodi Gate in Ibadan, where representatives from Oyo, Ogbomosho, Ibarapa, Okeogun, and Ibadan were present.
The association gathered to deliberate on the development of ACOMORAN and tricycle and motorcycle operations in the state.
In the meeting were the former chairman of ACOMORAN in Oyo State and national assistant secretary, Alhaji Saheed Folaranmi, Alh Shuaib Quadri, Bimbo Oyediran, Leye Azeez, Habedeen Bakare, Rasheed Saubana, and a host of others. The challenges facing riders were discussed, as was the need for unity to tackle the issue of insecurity facing riders and our society at large.
The state chairman, Comrade (Dr) Olugbode Solomon, lauded all the representatives from the 33 local governments and charged them to rise to duty “because unionism today has gone beyond selling tickets but ensuring our members are disciplined and conduct themselves in a way that will not pose a threat to the lives of our passengers and other road users. He said both government revenue tickets and ACOMORAN tickets should be issued to members daily without further extortion.
Olugbode said,”It is criminal to collect money from riders without issuing tickets to them. He called on executive members to stop their task force from using the task force uniform to pick passengers, saying that only the blue uniform with orange strifes is meant for riders.
Olugbode called for cooperation to add value to commercial motorcycle and tricycle operations in the state. He said the two can only walk together on agreement Amos3:3.
Dr. Olugbode appreciated the executive governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for giving riders in the state a sense of belonging and for his pro-people governance, and he lauded Otunba Balogun Seye Famojuro.
Olugbode appreciated the peaceful conduct of PMS under Alhaji Tomiwa Abdul-Wasiu (Tommy) and PMS tipper and lorry wing, Alh. Akeem Adebayo Kuso.
