OYO: APC Campaign Council Demands Credible, Violence-free Election, Writes IGP over PMS, Amotekun’s Activities Targeted At Influencing Outcome of Forthcoming Guber Polls.

Oyo State All Progressives Congress(APC) Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council has demanded a free, fair and violence-free gubernatorial election, slated to hold in Oyo State, and many parts of the country, Nigeria, this Saturday, March 11, 2023.

The Council expressed its total dismay over the alleged conspiracy, between the Head of the Oyo State Park Management Services(PMS), personified by one Mukaila Lamidi a.k.a Auxiliary and AMOTEKUN personnel, in the State, plotted to forment disorderliness, create tension and perpetrate electoral frauds, on the day of election.

This is contained in a petition written by the Director General, Oyo State APC Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council, Dr. Isiaka Olayinka Kolawole and addressed to The Inspector General of Police(IGP).

In the petition, which a copy of it was obtained by this newspaper, Kolawole charged IGP to protect the integrity of his exalted office and render the alleged conspiracy of the Manager of Oyo PMS and the Operatives of AMOTEKUN security apparatus as a mere puff and nullity, to enthrone a level playing ground for all political parties.

AN EXPEDIENT CALL FOR AN EXPEDITIOUS INTERVENTION IN THE SECURITY ATMOSPHERE OF OYO STATE AND THE NEED TO CIRCUMVENT A SITUATION OF BREAKDOWN OF LAW AND ORDER BEING CURRENTLY SUSPECTED TO BE IN THE COOKING BY THE JOINT MACHINERIES OF BOTH THE OYO STATE PARK MANAGEMENT BODY AND THE AMOTEKUN APPARATUS.
The above refers;
We sincerely laud the achievement of the Nigeria Police headed by your noble office in the unprecedented level of orderliness recorded so far in the last Presidential and Federal Legislative Houses elections.
We are also fervently hopeful that the machinery of your office would not be broken down by any lawless or disorderly force in the Country, especially, in the coming Gubernatorial and State Legislative Houses elections. The unalloyed confidence we reposed in your noble office is what gave us the impetus to author this protesting petition.
We, at the Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council of the Oyo State All Progressives Congress(APC), have in recent times been observing with keen interest but with total dismay the conspiracy between the Head of the Oyo State Park Management Services, personified by one Mukaila Lamidi a.k.a Auxiliary and AMOTEKUN personnel in the State to forment disorderliness, create tension and perpetrate electoral violence and vices in all the local government areas of the state in the forth coming election slated for 11thday of March,2023.

Our resolve to author this petition is borne not out of political interest but out of patriotic zeal and genuine desire to see that the labour of your noble office as historied by your achievements is not
rubbished or brought to Zero.
Also, this petition is a product of confirmed fears as evident in the general situations, happenings and developments in the State which are pointing to the direction of readiness of these two bodies to upturn the secure and peaceful existence of the entire State and render same volatile thereby endangering lives and properties, intimidating and harassing voters to vote for a particular party, the
People Democratic Party, which the current Executive Governor, Seyi Makinde belongs.
We need to add in sum that the generality of the Citizens of Oyo State and indeed all Nigerians look up to your office as the number (1) one law enforcement agency in the Country for the safety and security of their lives and properties just as our unfettered trust and hope in the dexterity, impartiality and neutrality of your men remains unshaken and un-wavered.
We seek the intervention of your noble office to commence all that has to be done to render the conspiracy of the Manager of the Oyo State Park Management Services and the Operatives of AMOTEKUN security apparatus a mere puff and nullity to enthrone a level playing ground for all political parties.
We also pray that, to ensure and guarantee fairness and justice, the Two Agencies of the Government, Oyo State Park Management Services and the AMOTEKUN Paramilitary Service must be stopped at all costs and must be prevented from participating in the March 11th 2023 Governorship election process in Oyo State in order to forestall chaos and disruption of peace and order in Oyo State.
The antecedents of the Manager of the park management and his daily intimidating and oppressive outbursts on the social Media, radio and television within the State especially, and on so many social and political gatherings are loud enough even to the deafest residents of Oyo State.
We have no doubt in our mind that, as you have done in many instances to curb the menace of some unscrupulous elements in the society, the growing excesses, thugery, violence, intimidation and harassment of Oyo State Citizens targeted at influencing the outcome of the forthcoming Governorship election in Oyo State in favor of the incumbent Governor, Seyi Makinde by Oyo State Park Management Services headed by Mukaila Lamidi a.k.a Auxiliary in strong collaboration with AMOTEKUN, a state owned paramilitary agency, would be curbed, arrested and dealt with accordingly.

We look up to you for a free, fair and violence-free election in Oyo State, so that the vote of the electorates may count and the outcome reflective of the wishes of the people for the assurance of integrity and transparency of the electoral process and democracy in Nigeria.
