Oyo: APC Chieftain, Barr Akeem Agbaje Urges Gov Makinde to Address Power-Related Challenges.

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC), in Oyo State, Barr Akeem Agbaje has encouraged the governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde to address the power problem in the state.

While featuring on a popular radio program, in the state, Barr Agbaje stated this in response to Oyo NUJ chairman, Comrade Demola Babalola who asked what his recommendation to the governor would be. The NUJ boss recalled that Governor Makinde had asked for recommendations from all stakeholders on how to further move the state forward.

Barr Agbaje asserted that in the wake of the removal of fuel subsidy by the government, artisans and traders were battling rising cost of doing business and an investment in the power sector could be a good palliative bringing about the much needed succour.

“For me the most critical area is power, electricity. If you look at the bottom rung of the ladder of the working people of Oyo State, they are the artisans, market people. They need electricity and that is also a form of palliative as it would drive down the cost of doing business for those people. Take a barber for example, his cost of barbing would naturally have gone up with this removal of subsidy. The pepper grinder that buys petrol all the time, the welder, it has impacted negatively on their businesses but if Mr Governor can solve the power problem, that would be a great boost across all sectors.”
