Oyo APC Congress Crisis Gets Messier As Document Contradicts Chairman’s Claim On Members.

The controversy surrounding the State Congress of the All Progressives Congress(APC),in Oyo-State, is getting messier as documentary evidence contradicts the claim by the embattled chairman’s disclaimer of the four members who distanced themselves from the congress.

In a statement released early on Monday,Mallam Kontagora had claimed that the congress was conducted by the Secretary and three members on his authority.

This was after four members had released a statement on Sunday that they were not part of the congress. The four members namely Hon. Olanrewaju  Edun, Mallam Abubakar  Abdullai,  Mr Diran Iyantan  and Chief Ralph Igbokwe. had claimed in their statement that only the Secretary of the Committee,Muhammed Bello unilaterally conducted the purported congress because they were neither present nor gave their consent. They noted that because the blockage of access to the hotel where the members were accommodated at the Jericho area. “The Chairman and the only female member of the committee, Peace Chikelue did not attend the congress”, a source revealed.

In his response Monday morning, Lawan claimed that the four who signed the statement were not on the list of members handed over to him In Abuja. He claimed three other members joined the Secretary to conduct the congress.

However, the correspondence between the National Secretariat and the state chapter of the party confirmed that  Chief Raphael Igbokwe, Mr Diran Iyantan , Hon Olanrewaju Edun and Mallam Abubakar Abdullai are indeed members of the committee. They are listed as numbers 3,4 , 6 and 7 on the list of the State Congress Committee by the National Secretariat of the party. See list below:
