Oyo APC : Group Holds Peace Meeting in Ibadan, Soji Akanbi Fosters Unity .

Yesterday, Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Unity Forum held a peace meeting aimed at melding the various fragments of the party.

The meeting which witnessed a huge convergence of party members took place at Premier Hotel in Ibadan and also had in attendance; staunch party leaders and stakeholders.

Recall that, some party stakeholders recently held a reconciliation meeting in Abuja; aimed at settling differences and rejuvenating the party.

The peace meeting in Ibadan; chaired by the Chairman of the forum, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi; was attended by the host of Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi (Okanlomo of Ibadan land), Senator Ayo Adeseun, former Minister of Communication, Barrister Adebayo Shittu and Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande.

Also in attendacne were, Chief Goke Oyetunji, Barrister Niyi Akintola, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, Honourables Saheed Fijabi, Bosun Oladele and Sunbo Olugbemi.

At the meeting, the call for unification represented the crux of the peace talks. The party stakeholders charged party members to see themselves as one, ensure peace reigns and embrace unity by all means. It was stressed that success at future elections is hinged on laying a foundation of sincere unity in the party and for all to come together with sincerity of purpose for the common goal of winning at all levels.

Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi in his own words, charged all party members to desist from any form of blatant political partisanship. He stressed on the importance of coming together in one accord once again as a formidable progressive family. He also urged party members to do well in looking out for one another and display the spirit of brotherhood wherever they are; thereby, giving room for the much needed peace and make the ‘BROOM’ stronger to sweep surfaces, leaving them clearer and brighter.

In a communique issued at the meeting, the party stalwarts urged various groups in the party to sheath their swords and work for the unity of the party to ensure success in future elections.

In the communique which was signed by Alhaji Waheed Olajide, the former Secretary to Oyo State Government, who is the Chairman of the communique drafting committee, and Professor Adeolu Akande, the Chairman of NCC, who is the Secretary of the communique drafting committee, the party noted that all contentious issues within the party have been examined and resolved.
