Oyo APC: Women’s Summit Holds on June 8 in Ibadan.

The office of the Oyo state All Progressives Congress(APC ) women leader, Alhaja Tinuade Adigun has perfect all plans to hold a women’s summit in the state.

The Oyo state APC Women summit is tagged:”A Call For Women Participation In Politics, Benefit Highlights, With 2023 Anticipation”. The Wife of Osun State Governor, Her Excellency, Chief(Mrs) Kafayat Oyetola said would be the keynote speaker.

Alhaja Tinuade, who disclosed this to newsmen on Saturday in Ibadan said the scheduled Oyo APC Women summit is aimed at bringing together political Women, Artisans, Women Clubs and Associations, and all the players in the formal and informal businesses and other sectors, for broad engagement on reasons for women to actively participate in politics with benefits highlighting, using 2023 general election as a scope.

“It is seen today that we women still suffer a lot of discrimination, especially, in our participation in politics.

“Sadly that political parties seem to be content with letting women bear such titles as ‘Women Leader’, ‘Deputy Women Leader’, ‘Chief Women Organiser’ among others without really affording them a real opportunity of contributing politically to the development of their respective states and, country at large.

“It is high time we called more women into politics and analyzed their role and benefits to them. Since political participation is for both gender, men alone should not be the largest beneficiaries of the dividends. We, women are also qualified and entitled to share the political gains, irrespective of the tribe, age, and education.

“I’m calling all the state women to join us at the summit 8th of next Month, in Ibadan. It is there we will analyze the reasons why it is important we shouldn’t leave the politics and politicking at the hands of men, though. Women’s participation in politics helps advance gender equality and affects both the range of policy issues but there are many other opportunities and benefits for women’s political participation.

Tinuade, Oyo APC women leader said,”The women’s summit which was earlier scheduled for the 16th of May, is now fixed for June 8, 2022, starting from 11 am, at Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall and Event Center Opposite the University Of Ibadan College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan Oyo state.
