As the polity gets hotter and the battle for the tickets for various positions across political divides gets closer, aspirants are all out to ensure the pendlum swings in their favour.
The frontline Oyo Central Senatorial Aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Bimbo Kolade was on Friday, April 29 received by the leaders, elders and critical stakeholders of the party in Lagelu Local Government Area, of Oyo Central senatorial district, at Ejioku.
In his speech, Mr Dijo Ogundiran, a member of Elders Forum in Afijio Local Government who was one of the elders on the entourage of Bimbo Kolade, appealed to the entire local council to accept their son who is a core progressive, loyal, committed and an enigmatic.”He stands with the party since inception without any history of defection despite all odds. When others left the party in 2019, Bimbo remained in the party and supported his rival to emerge Oyo Central senatorial candidate.
Addressing the audience, Hon. Bimbo Kolade said he was there to specifically inform the stakeholders about his ambition to contest for Senate come 2023 and he publicly apologised to those seemed aggrieved with him personally and the party in its entirety to work together as one big family.
Kolade added that as one who has been very close to the corridors of leadership for quite sometimes now at both state and federal levels, having served the party and the people, he is conversant with the challenges of the state and is prepared to tackle them if elected.
In their response, one of the elders who spoke on behalf of others said, “Bimbo is a man of integrity. Who is qualified educationally and in terms of experience to be our senator”.
He continued, “Indeed you have been a party man. This is not the time to experiment with the position of the Senate and we will not give our votes to juveniles”.
They all unanimously agreed to support and see to the emergence of Bimbo Kolade as the party candidate for the 2023 election in Oyo central senatorial district.
