Oyo: Consult, Pursue And Smash Status Quo – Real Estate Magnate, ‘Lekan Afuye Encourages While Hosting APC Youth Lobby Group.
Former Chairman of the overall 25 Local Councils,11 Local Government Areas and 14 LCDA’s, in Ibadan Land, Hon. ‘Lekan Afuye has, yesterday, played host to the members of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Youth Lobby Group, in Oyo state. During the meeting, which was held at his private office at Old Ife Road, Ibadan. Afuye encouraged youth to consult wide, pursue their agenda diligently and be bold enough to quash the status quo.
The Ibadan-born Real Estate Magnate, Afuye in his words said that;”My brothers and sisters, first of all, I’m happy to welcome you here. It’s my pleasure to receive you and let my use this opportunity to encourage you as our youths. Indeed, you need to strengthen your consultation with the top level party leaders and key stakeholders as regard your demand for youth inclusion and political patronage.
“Yes,intellectual engagement and respectful confrontation, to challenge the existing order are keys towards achieving your common agenda.
During the meeting, Hon. Afuye observed that the quality of youths that made up of the “Youth Lobby Group” is a compelling reflection of the future of the Party, APC, in the state and he described their composition as bright, promising and assuring.
While speaking on behalf of the Lobby Group, Hon. Titilope Gbadamosi, had earlier, informed Hon. Afuye of the purpose of their visit. She reiterated the vital needs to identify with the youths in their moment of struggle for relevance and party position.
Gbadamosi lauded Afuye for his consistent support for the party. She emphasised Afuye’s applaudable efforts on giving the party a wider media presence, by working with a team of highly cerebral youths, to aid strategic communication at all fronts and across many platforms, at a time when no one thought of it as being necessary.
“Sir,I want to assure you that the youths will not disappoint you whenever you need our support. You’ve done wonderfully well,sir and we’re proud of you”,Gbadamosi extolled.
In his own remarks, Comrade Adegbola Oluwaseun also known as “Triple Tee” urged Afuye to continue identifying with youths as it is the only way to secure the future of the party and the state.
Triple Tee revealed that as the former Executive Chairman of Ibadan Northeast,then, Hon. Afuye had the most youthful cabinet statewide with the oldest member in his cabinet less than 40 years old.
Adegbola insisted that;”Sir,we cannot afford to let the ideas of our young generation go untapped or unbaked. Therefore, I want to urge you, once again, to join the struggle for youth inclusion in the party executive positioning.
Another influential Youth Advocate, in APC, Prince Adewale Aponmade commended Afuye for what he described as his brilliance and organization. Aponmade encouraged Afuye to intensify efforts on ensuring that all youth demands are met.
Hon. Afuye appreciated the members of the state youth lobby group and assured them of his unalloyed support towards their demands for leadership position and inclusion in the state party executive composition.
