Oyo Federal Constituency: Skimeh Donates Two Tractors to Farmers, Perfects Plans on Boosting Agricultural Production

In line with his electoral promise, Honourable Akeem Adeyemi, popularly known as Skimeh, has presented two brand new tractors to farmers in Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East and Oyo West Federal Constituency.

While speaking with this newspaper today, Hon. Skimeh made it known that as a firm believer in the visionary leadership of President Bola Tinubu, he has decided to keep concentrating efforts towards boosting food production and reducing to the barest minimum inflationary curves in the price of farm produce.

Yesterday, 15th of June, 2025, a committee of 11 distinguished men and women was commissioned and sworn in by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Secretary in Oyo State, Alh. (Prince) Tajudeen Olanite. The main roles of the committee are to come up with comprehensive plans on maintaining the tractors and working with farmers and the lawmaker for the wider plans on boosting food production and making agricultural produce affordable in the federal constituency.

The committee of eleven will be chaired by the respected community leader who was also the former chairman of Oyo East local government, Chief Emmanuel Oladeji Olaoye. Three farmers’ associations – All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Baale Agbe in Council and Farmsfield professionals – are to be represented in the committee by Mr Tiamiyu Abdullahi, Chief Musbau Tijani and Mr Araoye Sarafadeen, respectively. Also, the Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) will be represented in the committee by Pastor Amos Kehinde Eeguntola, while the Muslim community is to be represented by Mr Abdroheem Abdrosheed Folorunso Aseke.

The Senior Legislative Aide to Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, Alhaji Fatai Oyedayo Akindele, will act as the secretary of the committee and official representative of the enlarged Skimeh team. In the same vein, Alhaji Hameen Afeez, popularly known as Benasi, was nominated to represent the teeming youths of the four (4) local governments on the committee. The trio of Coach Taiwo Amusan (Afijio), Alhaji Abdrasaq Ajisope (Oyo West), and Hon. Muftau Makinde (Atiba) are the representatives of each local government. The committee is saddled with determining, amongst other things, the cost of ploughing for the farmers in the nooks and crannies of Oyo at a discounted rate, with the belief that it will lead to a corresponding decrease in the cost of farm produce. They are also to see to the proper maintenance of the tractors for effective use.

Alhaji Lamidi Taofeek, while speaking at the inaugural meeting, encouraged the committee members to discharge their duties in such a way that will encourage Hon. Adeyemi to invest more resources towards boosting agricultural production.
