Oyo: Group Pays Akala Visit, Salutes His Tenacity to Enthrone APC Govt.
Coalition of Progressive Social Media Platforms has paid a courtesy visit, tagged “Politics Beyond Social Media”, on former Governor of Oyo State and Chairman of Elders Advisory Committee of the All Progressives Congress(APC), in the state, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, on Tuesday, at his Ibadan residence.
The Convener of the Coalition, Barrister Waheed O Lawal while revealing the mission of their visit to the former pacesetter state Helmsman, Akala, said,”Your Excellency, sir! Our mission, here, today is to solidarise with you and to encourage you to remain steadfast and to keep on working for the unity of the party. And also, to make sure that there is fair and transparent process of conducting the state congress and peradventure, electing party’s flag bearer come 2023.
“Sir, we also want to advise Your Excellency not to be distracted but to remain focused. Indeed, we strongly, have confidence in you and your capacity to lead Oyo APC to victory come 2023”, Waheed encouraged.
While responding, Otun of the Source, Akala stated that,”Indeed, I’m happy to have you around. I’m very grateful that you’re here to pay me solidarity visit and I really appreciate your words of encouragement, as well.
“My people, let me reiterate this again. Yes, I’m saying it boldly. I’m not supporting any particular aspirant, especially, guber one. All aspirants are my brothers and I want to remain as leader and father to all. Meanwhile, I want to actively, once again, encourage all our aspirants to go back to their respective wards, base, to effectively register their presence over there, because the era of waiting for somebody to work for you and you take the glory is gone in Oyo APC.
“You’ve to work because power is not served à la carte. Although, I’m a former governor of the state but I’m no more contesting for the post. Meanwhile, if we fail to cooperate and we’re unable to enthrone APC government in the state, I will loose nothing but I will not be happy leading the party to failure. Let’s cooperate to have landslide victory in Oyo APC come 2023”, Akala stated.
