Oyo state 2023 Governorship Hopeful, Dr Azeez Adeduntan his teeming supporters joined other APC party faithful yesterday at Eagle Square, Abuja for APC convention where members of the party National Working Committee were “selected “ chiefly through consensus.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the convention, Chief Adeduntan expressed his disdain for the consensus approach which generated “bad blood “ among the contestants adding that the most unfortunate of it is that no important central position was given to any candidate from Oyo state likely due to lack of effective and strong leadership at home and at the centre in Abuja.

“The consensus approach is the least desirable in selecting candidates for elections, even worse than the indirect delegates primaries.

“The best candidate selection method, the direct was excusably removed from the 2022 electoral law signed by the President.

“The APC has now been hijacked by the state Governors.”

He said for the right leadership to emerge in Oyo APC the coming primaries must be free, fair and credible.

Osi Basorun of Ibadanland, Adeduntan said he shares the pain of Barrister Shittu and other aspirants who were given “bloody noses “ by not even considering them on prima facie basis, not to talk about merit.

“In Oyo state for the upcoming primaries, all options are on the table in case of absent of a free, fair and credible primaries.

“A strong leader must emerge capable of bringing dividends of democracy back to Oyo state that will not allow us to be rubbished in the future, Adeduntan added.
