Oyo Hijrah Holiday : Group Writes Makinde, Reminds Him of His Campaign Promises .

” 20th August, 2020.

Your Excellency,
Engr Seyi Abiodun Makinde,
The Executive Governor of Oyo State
Governor’s Office,
Ibadan.

Dear Sir,
RE: HIJRAH-NEW YEAR HOLIDAY.

Your excellency Sir! It delights us to felicitate with you on the auspicious occasion of celebration of Hijrah year, 1442 AH. Celebration of this year is so significant that it links entire Muslims in the globe to their history and Islamic development that centres around migration from its cradle in Mecca to Medinah. It is a time of reflection, happiness, resolution and evaluation of our stewardships to our Lord, fellow citizens, State and the Nation at large.

Celebrating hijrah year in togetherness brings good spirit of love, harmony and cohesive interpersonal relationship among the entire citizenry in the state. It is a means of enhancing social relationship and strong attachment to Islamic history, ethics and values.

Having said that, the previous Government in Oyo state realized this and as such declared holiday to give Muslims the opportunity to celebrate such important occasion and yearly transition. Just like Easter celebration that reminds us of good virtue lived by Jesus – the Son of Mary, it will be our desire if your excellency can review your position on the declaration of holiday for Hijrah celebration. It is also important to state that declaring such holiday has a direct connection to bringing your campaign promises to fruition.

Furthermore, it also scores you high as a honest, transparent and leader full of empathy and love without boundary just as you promised during your campaign leading to your victory at the poll.

Accept our esteem respect and good consideration always. We shall be looking forward to receiving from you sir.

Yours faithfully,

Hon Abass Ademola Busari.
Signed.

I won’t be surprised if by 1st Muharram 1443 and 1444 which would be in 2021 and 2022, declare public holidays for Hijrah because of Muslim votes in 2023. If you vote for him again, he would still renege on his promises after election of 2023.
