Oyo LG’s: The Importance of Remaining in ALGON | Prince John Oyetunji Aremu

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to address the recent considerations among some Oyo local government chairmen about potentially withdrawing from the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON). As a representative and leader within your community, I urge you to reconsider this course of action for several crucial reasons.

  1. Collective Strength and Advocacy: ALGON serves as a unified voice for all local governments across Nigeria. By remaining part of this association, we leverage our collective strength to advocate for policies and resources that benefit our local communities. A fragmented approach weakens our ability to influence national decisions and secure necessary support.
  2. Resource Sharing and Capacity Building: ALGON provides a platform for sharing resources, best practices, and innovative solutions to common challenges faced by local governments. Through workshops, seminars, and collaborative projects, members can enhance their administrative and operational capacities, leading to more effective governance at the grassroots level.
  3. Solidarity and Networking: Being part of ALGON fosters solidarity among local government leaders, facilitating networking opportunities that can lead to collaborative projects and initiatives. These connections are invaluable for mutual support and the exchange of ideas that can drive local development.
  4. Access to Funding and Development Projects: ALGON often serves as a conduit for accessing national and international funding and development projects. By staying within the association, local governments increase their chances of benefiting from such opportunities, which are essential for community development and infrastructure improvements.
  5. Representation and Influence: Membership in ALGON ensures that Oyo local governments have representation in national discussions that affect local governance. This influence is crucial for advocating for policies that are tailored to the specific needs and priorities of our communities.

In conclusion, withdrawing from ALGON would not only isolate us from these significant benefits but also undermine our collective progress and development. I strongly encourage you to maintain your membership in ALGON, ensuring that we continue to work together towards the betterment of our local governments and the communities we serve.

Moreover,Mr Seyi makinde I want you to remember that you have an expiring days in office,Oyo state is not your personal property and local government autonomy is for the benefit of the citizens of Oyo state, you can’t continue to gag and hold the local government selected chairmen as a slave because of your personal interest which is against the masses interest.

ENGR.SEYI MAKINDE LET THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BREATH.
